What next? Re: my addiction to mods
Unfortunately, I can't go overboard with performance mods as I have an automatic transmission...
When I had my rx8, I poured thousands into ONLY performance mods -- turbo, piggyback, full exhaust, LSD, pads/rotors, shocks/struts/springs, short shifter, intake, lightweight flywheel, upgraded pressure plates/clutch... I got this automatic thinking i would tone down on the modding, but unfortunately, that was only wishful thinking. I fully regret not going Manual Trans. On my AW 325i so far... I have an eisenmann race exhaust, style 199 rims, matte black kidney grills. I plan to tint 5 or 25%, get the OEM spoiler, euro headlights (halogen) and possibly get the DTM M5 bumper... After weighing out the cost/benefit of purging in the GruppeM intake, my cost/sound coefficient isn't pushing me in either direction--so i think that'll be one of my last mods... As I can't expect any aggressive performance gains, I don't plan to do much suspension work (nor drop it--as i don't want to truncate the life of my shocks). What do you guys think? Or rather, what would you guys do? Last edited by SE3P_to_E90; 12-06-2006 at 05:03 AM.. |

You planning to get XEDE? I have only read of ONE guy so far with AT that got it done, in the first Texas review thread (induction section) and it seems he got about +41hp gain, while the MT guys have about +60 or so... though who knows, AT may be putting out more power cos dyno'ing it wasn't easy cos it kept shifting gears.

shiv says it shouldnt be different. he almost got a AT himself if i recal correctly... also se3p has a 325i. shiv has said before that he might consider doing xede for NA cars but the demand has to be there... probably becuase it may not be worth his time as far as gains go
how about this for a mod... trade in and get a 335? haha jk how much gains are you supposed to get on NA e90s? i think i remember one of the intakes giving a fair amount. the only other thing i can think of is modding the final drive. |

yaa... i'm not looking to go crazy performance as my e90 isn't equipped to be a race car... i'm trying to get "some" power when i want it (just for shits and giggles)
As for the intake and significant mods... i highly doubt it... perhaps maybe 3-5hp max? as for the ECU, i was looking into technik, but i'm not sure if i'd go that route... who know's! Wha'ts your ideas on appearance mods? |

shits and giggles i would mess with final drive but i dont know much... i hear that its a pretty common thing to do with bmws.
aesthetic mods... drop? get some coilovers and it will end up handling better... and looking better too. dtm looks nice, your black grilles are probably also nice. i wanna see pix... and move this thread to the picture forum >: ) |

Why would you get halogens and not Xenons? Halogens are so 5 years ago...

because i actually had the xenons bought, still have the FRM999 model on hand, but decided to scrap the idea as i don't want to cut any wires, etc...
dropping isn't really an option b/c the roads in baltimore are SO bad when i bring the car here next year... Long island, NY roads aren't so bad... but shock installs are costly... Also, as opposed to the halogens, i was thinking of a unique look... get the HID fogs, superbright.. and just go euro halogen headlights. still up in the air. |

Well, i know the importance of sways since I used to be an amatuer drifter with my last car (se3p--mazda rx8) I should be on some videos associated with Full Throttle Racing in NY.
Anyway, i don't plan to go to the suspension route much as the car is fairly comfortable, and it's not intended to be a race car... so, if there is any suspension work, it'll be strut braces and springs (possibly shocks/struts). So far, I have purchased (awaiting install): 1. Eisenmann Race exhaust 2. Matte Black Kidney Grills 3. BMW Style 199 Rims 4. OEM (replica) Front splitters Painted AW. I think my next step is going to be Tints, and Mtech rear bumper... Clean and simple right? |
