If I could make my s2000 into a sedan
So I need to move on. A bad hip and back have forced me to get another fun second car. I have loved my s2000- what it does not have in speed it has in soul, passion and noise.
So I have really not found a sedan that resembles an S2000 in drag except the EVO X (MR). It "feels" like a race car (even though it's not). Since every enthusiast has Bimmer on the Brain I decided to look at 335xi and test drove. Well it is no s2000 in drag but it was fantastic. For a luxo boat it danced like Fred Astaire and ,the handling and feel were 90% of EVO. Look at my age I don't give a shit about price, status or luxury. If I buy the EVO will I regret the relative hard core nature of the car in a few months or, conversely, if I buy the 335xi will I regret its almost too smoothness and finesse in a few months. Anyone with long term experiences in both or those who own both chime in. I have read the 2 or 3 comparisons in the car rags but real world is what I am looking for. thx |

I've been in an EVO, driven the 2nd gen STi, and own a E90 325i. I'm in my late 40's and a car nut since the age of 5. I've owned 3 BMWs since 1988. Still have two of them. I drive my 325i 800 miles a week. I never, ever get tired of E90. The guy I know who has the EVO is a young 27. My nephew who has the STi is 24. My buddy who is the same age as me, and who also had an STi (and is a hard core driver) sold his after a year (he has a Miata now).
I think the 335i will offer long-term satisfaction for you. |

I have a 335i, but I would love to have a S2000... now that the NSX and S2000 have been killed off and with no successor in sight. Honda have also pull out of F1 and killed the NSX program in Super GT, I really think your S2000 is part of a dying heritage that is Honda's racing spirit... u should keep it if you can. Conversely, there will always be a new 3 series or M3...
back on topic, my 335i have given me zero hassle so far, 13500km 1.5 year so far so good. Never limped, never HPFP, never have warning lights or electrical faults or anything so far and I do drive the car hard. I do a lot of spirited driving

Check out the EVO MR Touring. It's just like the regular MR, but it's got some nice material touches, a better LED in dash screen, it's full leather, and it has a sunroof. I'm currently looking at those and STIs. Sadly, neither generation seems to put down the power that their predecessors did without a lot of parts.
I went through the same exact thing when I bought the 335i. It took a lot of mods before I stopped regretting not getting the evo. Coming from an S2000, you'd probably have an even harder time than I did. The 335i didn't provide the out of the box "feel" that the E46/E39s did with M-sport suspension. It was a bit of a letdown.
