F'ed up taskbar, help!

Excuse the large size, but I noticed that all my applications are opening at the bottom right which is becoming annoying. They used to spread out all over the taskbar but are now condensed in that corner. I have no clue what to do, help please!

Right click on the task bar. Uncheck "Lock task bar", adjust vertical slider much further to the left. Right click on task bar and re-check "lock task bar".

All that has happened is that the amount of space designated for your quick launch buttons has been made much too large.
