RAM

Hey, can someone help me choose between these 5 RAM sets? I'll be getting 12gigs, so any that are 6 just assume I'll be getting 2. The only visable difference is the Cas latency and Timing. Since OCZ plat. has the lowest timing and cas, would that be the best choice?

Thanks.

Are you staying stock, or will you be pushing them?

I'd research the stability of each under the conditions you're requesting. It wouldn't help to also inquire as to their behavior when being overclocked with your particular MoBo/proc. You can find tons of stuff on overclock.net and xtremesystems.org to name just two.

If you're staying stock, make sure to look up your other hardware on those forums and see if there are any gripes from people with that combo. If not, then I'd recommend the lowest timings. Both Corsair and OCZ are good names, and the Platinum is a proven stick @ 1600 MHz.

I read a bunch of reviews online for the OCZ platinum, all good. I'll probably get that one, thanks!

No offense, but if you can't pick RAM for yourself, you probably have no need for 12gigs.

What will you be using this system for?

12gigs is kinda overkill really. Half that would be just as good.

Yeah, I decided just to go with 6. Maybe I'll add more in the future, since it's an easy performance upgrade. I don't really need 12, but after dropping 2k for parts to build a new pc, spending 200 more to double my memory seems like a no brainer.

Yeah but you also have to look at how fast RAM prices can drop. By the time you'll even think you need 12, it'll be far cheaper.
