so my old man just ordered...

my old man just ordered a 535xi touring. Hehehe... he's softening up finally at 54!

He ordered it Monaco Blue with Cream beige leather interior with head-up display and Comfort seats. It should end up being a pretty nice ride...

535xi... sweet. BTW,... nothing soft about your old man's choice man. 0-60 5.6/5.7 sec. I wouldn't mind getting one myself.

The 535xi is out already? I just looked at bmw.ca and there's only a 530xi Touring for MY 2007.

535s are in the 08 models which I guess just started production. No ZSP?

Sweet ride man. BMW knows how to make sports sedan/coupe and even touring looks sporty and fast.

yeah... my dad is pretty excited. He drove an E30 325 for 16 years then got a 2001 E46 330i Sport and has had it since.

I forgot to ask your guys' thoughts... he got the beige interior with Dark Bamboo wood trim... I thought that might be cool but what about the diamond black trim (I believe that it looks like the piano trim?)

He ordered an April production 2008 BMW 535xi Touring... he selected for sure getting head-up display and the comfort seats... he is debating special ordering night vision and I am trying to convince him that he should get the seat ventilation/Nasca Leather option as well.

They come with Comfort Access standard in 2008 (maybe the did in '07 as well?) ...

I think he picked pretty good... he stayed away from the Technology package and stuff because he feels like he'll never use PDC or Navigation and would rather spend that money on seats and stuff... he also pointed out that about the only thing he's interested in having from the Premium package other than comfort seats is the auto-dim mirrors and he doesn't care about those to much.

Think he's missing anything? I personally would go for Mystic Blue rather than Monaco blue... any thoughts? He has one week to change his order

Bamboo trim looks great in the new X5. Definitely more unique than the usual wood trim in luxury vehicles. Monaco blue is nice, but it is quite conservative.

In the 5 series I think I'd definitely get navigation -- not sure why, but the iDrive seems a bit pointless without it. That said, I'd definitely pick the comfort seats and nasca / ventilation over nav, and it's not exactly difficult to find everything in Calgary!

Thanks for the input on the Bamboo trim! I haven't seen it yet and my dad was kind of going off the word of our salespeople at the dealer so it is good to get some unbiased confirmation. I think that I'll definately push him to get the ventilation/nasca.... seems like it is a good idea as it upgrades the entire leather interior of the car to 7-series grade Not to mention that you can for sure avoid ever having a sweaty ass! hahaha

They're putting the 335 engine in the 5 series? Sweet. I wonder if they're going to do the same with the X5....

Sounds like the colours are nailed then. Now I am waiting to see if my Dad goes for the Nasca Leather/Ventilated seats option... I think he should to make the ride extra gentlemanly We'll see what he does next... all I know is that his new whip is gonna be pretty mean compared to my now seemingly measly 323i
