Round trip Tickets
Hey so im getting ready to leave Germany and fly back to the states. I searched for a one way ticket to Newark NJ and got a lowest ticket price of 1200 US. I then went ahead and did round trip and picked a random day to fly back. Lowest price 520 US and several others for much lower then 1200. WTF? Does anyone know why it is like this? Im for sure getting a roundtrip and doing a no show...

I use expedia all the time but I'm never taking one way flights. That's pretty strange but whatever, just go with whatever's cheaper. Are you sure you're selecting both flights when you do round trip, and are still ending up with the lower total?

Just went through and did all except purchase tickets as im still waiting for final dates. Final price for one way, 1233.34 Final price for round trip 586. Weird. One thing Im doing is booking the return flight on a slow travel day, a Wednesday in a non holiday time, Middle of Sept this might have something to do with it... really have no idea but yea cheaper sounds good to me

I've done this before.... No idea why it is that way, but I'm sure it's based on some crazy actuarial table.
I've also been able to book a flight + rental car (or) flight + hotel for less money than the flight itself. Especially on holday weekends w/short notice flight times. Saved a ton of money this way. *shrug* It works, just do it.... besides what are they going to make you do, fly back to germany..? LOL. |
