maybe repost but WOW g37 on edmunds

I was definitely a little surprised...

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...hotopanel..2.*

"It happens on lap 4. That's when the difference between Infiniti's 2008 G37 Coupe and BMW's 2007 335i Coupe crystallizes.

All at once the BMW coupe that we've considered the leader in its class finally decides it's had enough."

"From the first corner driven in anger, it's easy to sense the G37's focus. There's firmer damping and better body control than in the BMW 335i. More impressive is the steering, which offers a perfect compromise of surface feel, steering effort and feedback. This makes the G37 more intuitive and better behaved at the cornering limit than the BMW "

Keep up the competition, IMO! When I'm ready to buy again (once my warranty nears expiration), we may be looking at 350HP and 14" brakes as the "standard" for the entry luxury cars. Incredible.

4th thread on the topic, but why not. The front looks good IMO.

^^ kinda hard to believe, sounds a bit too G37 pro, but meh. I don't like the way it looks to tell the truth I expected something more I guess, looks much fatter then the G35. First I saw ads photos and I liked it but those photos in edmunds review don't like very appealing, I'll take a closer look at NYC auto-show to make final judgment... Engine sounds interesting though

A most interesting review. If BMW is to respond, they must release a ZHP package and solve the overheating problem.

Who would have thought that we would be reading about a BMW winning the drag race but losing in the canyons.

I find it annoying -- I think that is the right word -- that I have to go to the aftermarket to get proper tires, coilovers, sway bars, strut braces, and an LSD, just to keep pace with an Infinity on which all of these performance necessities are standard fare in their sports package. Not to mention engine tuning a la Vishnu, and a cooling package.

IMO, if BMW wants to retain its image as the ultimate driving machine, it must release a ZHP package MY 2008, preferably Sept., that addresses these issues. The M3 is not the answer -- the response must come from the high volume, reasonably priced 335.

I think even with the stock 335 power level, it's still faster than the new G37

the biggest surprise in the article was that G37 clearly handles better than the 335 -- never has been done before...

Other than that, from what I see:
1) it is definitely uglier than what I expected
2) inside looks like a toy -- no style at all

I am sure the engine is pretty good though...

I am not saying there were any "shifty" dealings going on BUT....I ALWAYS find it ...suspect when "Maker A" invites your to a place to compare their vehicle with " Maker B's" car.
I just find it easier to swallow the information when it is a Indie type group making the comparison.

Good for us though...more competition= Cooler stuff and better performance for us!

Initial impressions look good for the G37, but we should wait until they release a production version that you can buy.

The G37 will probably be a great car for thousands less than the 335. But I need 4 doors.

..on lap 3 instead of lap 4. More power isn't exactly the best solution to overheating issues.

It kind of looks like the Lexus SC in profile... which is not a good thing. and by the way, there is no mention of driving feel, road manners or fit and finish (althought the japs normally have this down pat). I think BMW will win the day, as I do not daily drive on a race track.

But yes, overheating problem is BS for BMW. They need to fix that with even the '07's

OUCH... Limp Home Mode...

Sounds like the G37 will be a winner. The VQ Motor has allways been a favorite of mine.

I am skeptical though of Nissans ability to get the ergonomics right for Long Armed and legged Caucasians. THIS is one of the reasons I am out of Japanese cars, I am tired of sitting in a compromised position. Even Lexus gets it wrong.

Love the Infiniti's though just not as my only transportation. Thinking about getting an FX45 for the wife. Love the looks of that thing.

Sounds like a winner, bet it sounds good too.

OMG HERE WE GO AGAIN... bootleg M-front bumper!! Infiniti, stop copying! be original!

Anyway, my take is that ... it loooks okay. kinda.. not impressed at all!! Maybe looks better in person?? but... wow what a disappointing review on edmunds.... this is why i think there will be a v8 3 series.. or bigger NA engine. Either a 3.5-3.7 v6/v8. It's just a guess.
