Anyone fitted a Blinder system to their car?
Peeps,
Has anyone had a blinder laser jammer fitted to their car and if so can they show me pics of their install and experiences? Thanks FPO! |

I wouldn't mind if our towns were equally well policed, but the bastards don't get brownie points for apprehending rapists and murderers on our doorstep, so why bother exposing yourself to danger, when you can cosy up with your chum and a flask of tea on double time. Anyway, rant over - please tell me if you know whether this available in the UK. |

Lasers will report an error if they are jammed.
Do it a couple of times and its noted, then you will get a 'visit'. And expensive experiment.

It was widely reported just a few weeks ago that the Police successfully prosecuted someone for using this device - and the punishment was extreme. Magistrates take a dim view of this and the Police know what to look for. They'll still photograph or stop all cars that give an error message with "probable cause" - if they then find the device you're in a world of shit. Expensive too.

These devices are not laser jammers and should not be sold as such, however they can be sold as automatic light or garage door openers and have the unfortuanate concequense of jamming radar devices used by PC Plod.
As long as you can prove that it is used to activate a light or open a garage door it is virtually impossible for the magistrates to make a conviction, however where people have fell foul is they have these things fitted but then dont use it to activate a light/garage door. This can mean they can only be on the vehicle for one reason. My advise if you decide to go down this route make sure its not advertised soley as a radar/laser jammer, a lot of companies will however put this down as a sideaffect or something. And make sure you have a light/garage door that is actually activated by this device. |

I disagree. A magistrate will consider the balance of probabilities. Circumstantial evidence is perfectly acceptable if that's what the magistrate believes - I know which side the magistrate will fall on.

They are especially good for people who do high mileages and rely on the licence for work - if on 9 points, I would rather pay the fine for 'possibly' using one of these than get the final 3 points on my licence and a ban under the totting up procedure. |

It won't work they will throw the book at you. How many garage doors do you open whilst twating down a duel carriageway or again attempting to parallel park doing 95 mph. You cannot get done for having them it's just using them that will drop you in the shite.

Precisely. You can argue until you're blue-in-the-face to the magistrate that it's a door opener and the fact that you had it switched on at speed and the fact that it interfered with Police telegraphy and obstructed them in their duty was purely coincidental and unintended. Good luck with that.

What about these mobile "safety camera partnership" cameras? They aren't Police controlled are they?

I'm surprised there's no law here as in France whereby its illegal to have them at all, whether they are operational or not.

From what ive read, the device will only cover your arse for 8 seconds or something. After that its automatically switched off allowing for them to get a reading on you.
The way i see it is that if you are alerted to being hit with a gun and speeding, slow down to the limit and then turn it off immediately. They will obviously want to get a reading on someone who they cant. |

The Police still use a lot of LTI20-20 themselves, though.

OP why not save yourself a load of expense and potential hassle by just remaining within the law and driving responsibly within the current speed limit?
Whether we agree with it or not its the law and if you choose to break it, go for it but accept the penalty rather than load your motor with equipment which indicates your intent. |

Slow down teutonic at what point of this post did I even mention I wanted a system fitted to my car to go out and break the law?
I only wanted to know whether anyone had such a system fitted, their experiences with it and what others opinions are. Driving like a lunatic around the place will get you in trouble with the old bill eventually whether you have one of these systems fitted or not. |

Imo, anyone who plans on using such a system so that they can drive like a loon everywhere shouldnt be on the road to begin with. However when someone uses it against the sneeky policeman sitting round the corner with his speed trap where the speed limit goes from 60mph - 40mph and he tries to get them slightly over the limit as they immediately come into the zone. Then thats just not fair game. It always seems to me that they like to get you for speeding on the roads which arent necessarily dangerous for the public, e.g. straight roads coming into or out of dual carriageways. They never sit in areas where the speed is critical to the safety of the public, e.g. sharp bends / schools entrances etc. Im sorry but they should be concentrating on these areas and not those where a quick buck can be earned! Rant over! |
