Best Cheap MT Car?
I'm seriously considering ditching my 330 for a cheap MT car for a few months before looking for a nice 335, e46m or z4m with MT in the summer/fall. I'm pretty competent and have driven stick a few times before, but don't want a nice bimmer to be the car I learn on. Price isn't as important as other things like depreciation, maintenance, insurance, though $10k is about the most I'd like to spend on the car itself.
I'm leaning towards the RSX type S, as it's cheap and pretty much exactly what I need, though also considering: RX8 - not sure about maintenance, insurance a bit pricey VR6 GTI (MK4) - older + less reliable S2000 - more expensive and may not want to get rid of it Other obvious choices such as Civic si, g35, 350z aren't on my list because they're either too ugly or have a bad rep, simply don't want one in my garage. Opinions would be greatly appreciated, thks! |

Why buy a car for a few months. Just buy the one you want with the MT. Sounds like you have driven a MT before, even if you havent 30 mins behind the wheel should be all you need.
Save your money! Good luck with the search |

For what its worth though I had an RSX Type S. You can't really go wrong with them but you'll be rowing the gears constantly... the engine has no torque whatsoever. It can be fun though... |

Mustang GT. You can't hurt it and will want to sell it.

Pretty sure you worded that incorrectly. Buy a GT because you'll want to sell it?
I'm surprised you wouldn't want to learn on a Civic Si, OP. That gearbox is heaven.

+1. You would be hard-pressed to screw up a modern gearbox while learning, especially if you have experience. Just don't do anything to agressive while you are learning and it will be fine.
you would likely just be wasting money if you bought a car for 3-6 months just to resell it. I guess if you decided to keep it, that could save you money over buying a 335, etc.

Thanks for the input, I may just end up borrowing a friend's integra for a week in the spring while she's away if it takes that short a time to get used to the MT.
As for the BM, I've been checking insurance rates to go from my 330 to an e46m or a z4m and . Guess it's expensive to own a nice car lol Last edited by yakev724; 12-18-2010 at 03:55 PM.. |

Drive any car, corolla, camry, civic, anything to get you around. Something where you wont loose as much money.
