bedroom tv setup
I recently moved out of the barracks and got my own big boy house. Its pretty awsome, but the only downside is that my living room is no longer my bedroom. I have a 46" Hitachi in my living room with a desktop computer, xbox, and ps3 hooked up to it. I have a couple hard drives with movies/tv shows hooked up to the desktop so i can watch movies and stuff on tv. Its pretty cool, except I like to fall asleep watching a movie. Here is where I need help...
I want to get a smaller (32"ish) tv for my bedroom, and i was wondering what you guys suggested as far as what to hook up to it to play stuff off my external hd's. I could buy a laptop or something with hdmi output, and hook that up to the tv. Could I hook my ps3 up to the tv, and plug my hd's into the ps3? I know the ps3 has some usb ports, and honestly, i dont play any games on it, ever. I dont want to run surround sound or anything, just as basic of a setup as i can get away with, its just for the bedroom. Thanks. |

Laptop with wifi and connect to the hard drives in your living room to watch whatever you wanna watch from those in your bedroom.

You could use either the ps3 or xbox as a media center.
Or buy a media center type device like an Apple TV or some other brand. I'm assuming you have a router and the ability to network all your other devices. example: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=570

I don't know if this matters for the wi-fi setups, but I don't have internet at my house (not wired for it). I whave a wireless router and all that, so I guess I could link everything together, anyone have any light reading that will tell me how?
Thanks! |

You don't need the internet. Usually the literature in the product tells you what to do. Otherwise, google.
