BMW Concept C moto-scooter is coming to the USA
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW Concept C moto-scooter is coming to the USA Hell for Leather Magazine (http://hellforleathermagazine.com/) recently had a sit down with Todd Andersen, BMW Motorrad marketing manager. Mr. Andersen confirmed that a production scooter based on the Concept C was indeed coming to the US market. The Production Concept C would be expected to arrive in the US sometime next year after the fall bike shows. No additional details are available right now, but the scooter is expected to compete head to head with the Yamaha TMAX, which costs approximately $8500 to buy new and utilizes a 2 cylinder 500cc engine mated to a CVT transmission. The Concept C similarly uses a 2-Cylinder engine with a CVT tranmission, but ups the ante with standard ABS brakes, LED lighting and LCD displays. The Concept C has been doing a worldwide tour since first being introduced as a concept with overall strong positive reactions from people who want a premium gasoline powered scooter. You can see BMW's full press release and higher resolution photos of the Concept C here. |

Love it, looks great. Would be great for my place at the beach. Not sure I could bring myself to pay $8500+ bucks for something I'd use 4 months a year though.

Not to be a hater, but IMO it looks ridiculous. This is 2011, not the movie Tron. Clean lines, people.. clean lines.

okay - I try not to be tacky despite my post above, and I am definitely prejudiced as a motorcycle rider. so, I have always viewed scooters as items for girls (call me stupid, I know). for guys, riding a scooter is like dating a fat girl, it is fun right up until your friends see you on one. no thanks, just buy a real BMW motorcycle - for $8,500 you could get a really nice used motorcycle

We were just doing research on Burgman's but have decided to wait just because of this.
I guess I should feel fortunate that I'm secure enough to ride a scooter...... and that I'm old enough to no longer give a sh*t what other people think. Then again I have owned the biggest bike BMW builds so why not try their little one. |

its not so much insecurity as it is paying nearly 10k for a scooter albeit the coolest scooter ever

Another difference is speed and where you can ride them. A Burgman 400 tops out at about 100mph and will cruise at 75 all day long (I suspect the BMW will do even better). 50cc scooters hit a wall at 45mph and are not allowed on the freeway. So the only real difference is that the BMW Concept C has a step through frame and a CVT transmission. |
