Legal Question - publishing home images
Regarding publishing a book with photographs of homes (exterior, from street).
Do I have to obtain permission from home owners? If so, why not google? I've had this idea floatin in my head for some time, but always get stuck at this legal area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

In short. As long as the photograph is taken from a public place then you do not need permission to take the photograph.
However, architectural works became subject to copyright in 1990 so any building built after that are subject to copyright laws so you can not duplicate the photograph without the building owners permission. Google gets around this because of the "fair use" rule, the rule which applies to news, education and research. |
