This. A company will gladly let another have paid for someone's investigation provided that someone seems competent to do the job. On that same note, especially for TS, a given company might not always want to take the risk to find out their new employee has been denied a given clearance level for the job they were hired.

Perhaps I missed your response, but what does "mechanical" mean in your background? Could you expound on this?
I know folks who thought they were going to make so much money because of their clearance, but they're still unemployed because they have no real skill set or experience, so no one wants them.
