This. A company will gladly let another have paid for someone's investigation provided that someone seems competent to do the job. On that same note, especially for TS, a given company might not always want to take the risk to find out their new employee has been denied a given clearance level for the job they were hired.

Perhaps I missed your response, but what does "mechanical" mean in your background? Could you expound on this?

I know folks who thought they were going to make so much money because of their clearance, but they're still unemployed because they have no real skill set or experience, so no one wants them.

Well, 2W1 if you know military AFSCs for the mechanical background with weaponary. My new job is the one that makes me more useful. I would rather not speak about that on the forum though. So I will be happy to call someone if they have valuable information.
