Individual colors will be available on 2-Series and M2. 1-Series can be ordered with individual colors from September onwards. After three years of hearing it is coming, it is finally there. Production for Europe will be at Leipzig, and US markets will be in Mexico. They will divide it between those two factories.

Also G87 will have a head-up display for those of you who would love that feature. That is next to the carbon roof as an option, the choice between manual and automatic gearboxes and all the other interior features we have seen from the new M3 and M4.

S58 up front producing around 440 hp and other than that a similar power train set up to the M3 and M4. If I have more info, I will share it here.

MR
Has there been any mention or hint to a competition variant? I assume it would have a separate production reference?
Hint, hint

Wonder if there will ever be a new version of a DCT. Gonna miss the drama of those gear changes.
DCT is gone the same way the HPS has. And it's because future hybrid platforms will be easier to mate with the ZF than the DCT. All these self driving and parking features were the death of the HPS.

ZF8? no dct. I guess ill be getting the F87 considering it looks 10X better. The ZF8 is such a cost cut. Shifts like 2.5 times slower than the MDCT. Such a shame bmw is moving away from the DCT imagine if porsche did the same.

That is not the experience of G80 M3 owners who have owned F87s and Porsches in the past.

I also am planning on buying a manual to keep forever (or until they outlaw gasoline sales) but it won't be a dual purpose passenger car/performance car. It will be a Porsche with a roll cage lol.
Start hoarding gasoline from now lol.

Which is both ridiculous and a shame at the same time. As there is car, the M240i xDrive that sits below it and an M3 xDrive that sits above it. Making it an outcast/black sheep.

I for one would spec it.

I don't know how BMW is going to keep the M240i G series with Xdrive and 380ish hp from beating the rear wheel drive only G series M2 in stop light race.

A 22 post thread with one guy is hardly feedback. It shifts measurable slower, weighs more and inherently has more drivetrain loss due to more rotating mass and fluid. Its a step backwards in performance no question about it. A lot cheaper to have a common trans across more models.

Ive driven and owned several DCT cars and its not as smooth in shifting but its hardly a problem. For a car like the m2 where theres a larger emphasis on dynamics it makes even less sense. They try to target a younger audience on the m3/4 with its "bold" looks yet put a trans for my grandparents in it.

They did it because of the M xDrive and lower costs. Not to mention we've got people on this forum complaining about the DCT in traffic so, yeah.

Whatever man, discount it as you wish. I'm not here to go aggregate all the different threads for you. You clearly have a strong opinion that I'm not going to change.

And if people on this forum complain about it what do you think the vast majority of BMW M buyers feel?

None of it matters if it’s ugly- getting made in Mexico will be enough of an obstacle to get over. It would be interesting to compare build qualities of the two plants.

Individual colors, HUD & carbon roof. I'm game.

I'm sure it'll be more comfortable w/better NVH vs the F87 so it'll make for the perfect 6 speed daily.

It doesn't matter where the plant, a brand new one at that, is located.

Though ceramic brakes and bucket seats seem to be missing, all the drivetrain and suspension things are the same as G82, and even carbon roof will be an option.
  • The wheels will be 19" front and 20" rear, G87 specific design.
  • The first four months of its production will fall into the "M 50th anniversary" period so expect the initial run to become somewhat collectible.
  • And the new dashboard will be standard from day one.

This recipe with the dashboard shown below would be 👌. Where can I place a pre-order now for this version of the future?
I'm driving a 228 loaner now and the dash looks exactly like this photo. iMHO, I hate the layout and the smaller display. As a retired designer, the human factors are worse than the current M2C. Felt inexpensive if I'm being kind.
