Idk, I can definitely tell the difference between a real and a fake Rolex. My GMT Master II just shines brighter and looks real. People who really know watches will definitely know the difference... most other people wouldn't really care either way. And if someone (who doesn't know watches) is interested in it... once they see it up close/feel it/hold it .. it's game over for the fake ones

I don't own a bimmer anymore, but here is my circa 80's Rolex Datejust I bought last April.

I'm looking into either a Submariner, Omega Seamaster or a Tag Carrera as my next purchase.

Nice watch!

As for your next one, I would definitely stick with Rolex. If you want something different, I would go Omega over Tag Heuer

Here is my collection. The ones out of the boxes get regular wear. I do wear the Daytona when I'm racing! I figure it's what the watch was meant for. The other two are BNIB.
Two Rolex Daytona’s (one black and one white face), Rolex Submariner Date Green face/bezel (Hulk), Bell & Ross BR01-92 PVD with custom Cordura strap and Panerai PAM 111.
I know it's hard to tell, but the green Sub looks stunning. Very sharp watch for sure.
I just got the PAM last week and really love it. I can't wait to get a few different straps to change out.

Those Daytona's are beautiful...

One of my goals is to have a Daytona by the time I'm 40.

Like the bell and ross and 111. Never been much of a daytona fan. Why the BNIB?

Why the BNIB? Wearing the ones I have now and kind of saving the others for a while later. Then I'll have two new watches to start wearing at some point in time in the future. Plus, I'll miss all the inevitable price increases over the years.
I actually wore a Sub Date for 10 years and sold it for a small profit. Right now, I'd come close to breaking even on both BNIB watches, but in 5 or 10 years, they'll more than likely be worth more than what I paid for them.

The winder with my frequent wear pieces. My daily wear is the Rolex Sub Hulk (green ceramic). It's bracelet is not polished and does not show scratches as much.

I don't like the flimsy pushers on the ROO, but I do like the Chrono function. So, I would go for the AP ROC Panda. I almost got it, but then went with the Daytona instead.

I wear my sub daily, so at night I don't need to use the winder. It has a 40hr power reserve.

Regarding the winders - I had 2 different Wolf design ones and both of them sucked. Both became noisy after a while and both broke within 2 years.

Look into the Brookstone winder. You can get them in 1, 2 or 4 watch configurations. Very quiet, adjustable for any rotation you need and keep working year after year. And the price is much lower. Do a search on ebay for some good deals.

Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a new rolex and i'm stuck between a GMT Master II and Submariner black bezel, Black dial. From the little research i've done these two watches are very similar in the way they look and thats what makes this decision just a bit harder.

I'm aware of the different functions of each watch but my questions is what made you guys choose the GMT over the Sub or vice versa?

Submariner for me.

-Submariner is the rolex
-the polished links of the GMT is more blingy and requires more maintenance from fine scratches
-Submariner is rated at 300m vs GMT's 100m (i know i know, you're never going to go past 2m deep)
- The GMT has lost its identity when Rolex couldn't figure out how to create ceramic pepsi/coke bezels
-James bond wore a submariner
-In my opinion, the GMT is too thin compared to the Sub, i like my watches to have some heft

they're both great watches, but if i had to choose one, it would be a Submariner, especially if its a daily

If we are talking about the new versions, then I prefer the Sub. Sub has a brushed bracelet and can be worn daily without a care in the world (it is my daily beater - and I work in Afghanistan now). GMT, on the other hand, has a bracelet with polished links (like the Daytona), so it shows all of the desk diving scratches. Of course all of them can be polished out, but its annoying.

I used the GMT function since I travel quite frequently. It's pretty useful and 3 time zones can be tracked.

I have both of them and I will be listing the GMT for sale shortly. I just don't wear it. It has been on the winder for over 2 years without any wrist time. If I want to wear something shiny, I go for the Daytona.

If we are talking about the older models, then GMT was very similar to the Sub. Sub is more iconic and classic, while GMT has practicality for the travelling folk (plus the red GMT hand was really cool - better than the current green or blue, IMO). The mid-90's GMT was my first Rolex, and thinking about it now - it felt pretty flimsy and light on the wrist. I like the heft of the newer models. Newer links are sold vs. the previous hollow ones.

I picked the GMT Master II because it wasn't a Submariner, the watch that literally everyone else has. I'm not just another 'kid' with a submariner. I find that an older crowd wears the GMT vs, again, all of the young up and comers (or young kids with wealthy parents) wearing the submariner. I also like the polished links as well.

Also, I actually use the three time zone function of the GMT, I would probably never use any of the functionality of the sub.
