Did you install the AA downpipe yourself? How was the install?
I’ve seen some videos on YT where people were having a horrible time getting the oem downpipe out. Though most didn’t seem like they know what they were doing.

Pretty easy to install. I didn’t have any helpers around but don’t think it would have made a difference.

The hardest part was wiggling the old DP off the mid pipe. I found out once the down pipe was disconnected from the turbo it made it way easier to do. I also removed the metal under body aero plate. Not sure what it’s officially called but it made removing DP easier. I only removed the one bolt on the mid pipe bracket securing it to the car. There is enough play with only removing that so no other exhaust holders need to be removed. Also be careful with that metal plate when removing it. I accidentally hit the red wire coming off the starter and it sparked. Nothing damaged but wasn’t expecting it. Probably could disconnect battery but it didn’t hurt anything. Just scared the shit out of me when it sparked because it was unexpected.

AA comes with the new gasket and I didn’t have any issues with it falling off or mis positioning out of the DP.

To position the DP back to turbo I hung it on the two bolts and put the nuts on but didn’t tighten. This gave enough play to position it against the turbo.

Pretty easy, maybe 2 out of 5.

My car is lowered but race ramps worked great and gave enough clearance.

It definitely gave it more power and opened up the power band up top. I do have Dinan intake, turbo inlet, exhaust and a Dinantronics X but man it’s like a rocket and keeps pulling to redline.

I see people on the forums talk about the drivability issues with JB4. Mine runs like stock but with more power with the Dinatronics X.

I have bimmerlink and run logs. My max boost is around 24. Dinan adds 2.8psi on map7. I am happy with the way she runs now and may one day get a DME unlock but I am still in safe fun power that doesn’t destroy mechanical parts.

Got my AA downpipe in today that I ordered on Black Friday from mike@x-ph.com, but unfortunately my car got t-boned and pushed into another car on my right side this past Thursday, so I won't be installing it anytime soon...

Oh no ! So sorry that happened my friend. Hopefully you're okay. And hopefully insurance totals out the car.

Thanks, I'm doing ok, could have been much worse. Bruised shoulder and shins, neck/back pain, but I went to the doctor and got checked out; x-rays came back with no breaks/fractures visible, so that's good at least. The car did what it was supposed to do and protected me. It knew that I was in an accident and had emergency services on the line before I could even think about calling them. Firetruck was down the street checking on hydrants and was on the scene within minutes, shortly followed by police.

The lady that hit me had no driver's license, couldn't speak English and has some shady insurance (Redpoint County Mutual), so I already have an attorney on standby.

I feel like the car is probably a total loss, and that is what I'm hoping for. What really bums me out is it took me months to find this car, as I wanted a 2022 (don't care for Idrive8) with this color combo and options.

Not looking good re: redpoint

Good call to lawyer up right away. Redpoint does not appear to actually be insurance.

Make sure you're dealing with possible concussion the right way and anticipate some lingering issues if you were concussed. My head wasnt right for a few months after my head on collision in 2017, didnt even know I had been knocked out until the day after the crash when I noticed that my sunglasses had cut my eyebrows and I didnt remember that.

zerreissen work with your insurance company and let them deal with the other persons crappy insurance company. They should hopefully compensate you and then seek compensation from that other carrier. This is something referred to as subrogation.

zerreissen that’s insane and hope you’re alright!
Definitely a beautiful color combo and I love the tan interior. I know she couldn’t have not seen you because that car and color stands out. She must have been preoccupied or a new driver in America.

Hopefully you will be able to settle quickly and find one just like you had or better. Being T boned like that typically causes frame damage. I would be surprised if the insurance company tried to fix it.

Added a plug and play module to my third brake light. Yes I know this is not for everyone. Yes I know it annoys people when they are behind a vehicle so equipped. And yes I know it not legal in some states. But I wanted one. So I did some research and ascertained that Bimmertech made one. It cost approximately $120 and satisfied my requirement that it be plug and play. Unfortunately it was dull....only blinking four times. I wanted something more dynamic. I came across this website https://seequenced.com/. They offered what I was looking for..a stobe effect at approximately half the price. Also, it does not strobe every time you press the brake which saves me from the people behind me that don't like the constant strobing. (See his website for details on how this works). But they did not make one for a BMW. Nevertheless, I reached out to the owner who requested pictures of the third brake light connectors. He said he would try and find the connectors and make one for my car. Since he had to order the connectors from China it took some time but he came through. It was a simple install and I am very thankful for him for all his efforts.
Sorry for the audio instructions to my wife. It was a long day for her!

Without being aggressive in any way about what I'm gonna say, I really really dislike the flasher brake light and get why its illegal some places. It's not so much that it's annoying to me as the driver behind a car with it, that part is kind of irrelevant.

What it really is, is highly distracting to the other cars adjacent and behind you. That level of distraction is actually dangerous because it draws focus to another lane and I feel like when that flash goes off it draws the eye involuntarily.

I've never been rear ended, I credit that to good driving practices and moving out of the lane if the driver behind me is driving dangerously or using their phone. Knock on wood!

Like zerreissen, I was also hit a few weeks.

How bad is the damage looking? The airbags did not deploy.

Would like an opinion if I should just sell the car and cut my losses or keep it?

If selling is the only so how much could I realistically get in the private market- KBB is suggesting $42-45k.(before incident)

Yeah but its not for you either, you never see your own brake lights. In fact it is specifically for everyone else.

Similar to the folks who install hid conversion bulbs into reflector housings.

There are numerous modifications to people’s vehicles that they never “see”.
