Mine also changed to In Transit today, but I am still debating if I should take the delivery now since there is an option to get the latest tech, ID8. Seems like most of you actually prefer ID7, any thoughts??

If my car was coming with iD8 I would have abandoned the build. I absolutely love the interior with iD7 and BMWs execution of the giant dash display is terrible to my eye. I've seen it in multiple cars and I hate it.

This is a drivers car and having a driver focused hooded gauge display with an actual gear lever, even in an automatic, is important to me. I'm so happy I got iD7 even if it isn't the latest tech.

I'm actually kind of glad that mine got pushed to ID8. I agree with you that the ID7 setup looks way better, but im a tech nut. i'd rather have the latest gen IDrive.

See that's the thing. If I can turn off the head up display I'm going to. I connect via CarPlay and leave iDrive alone most of the time. As long as I get my gauges in front of me and CarPlay on a separate screen out of the way I'm happy.

I'm buying the car to go fast, not to play on screens. I have a $6k MacBook Pro if I want to mess around with tech haha.

But again, this is all subjective. I'm kind of hoping that there are others that feel this way and I can command a little higher of a premium when I sell it in a few years. Hopefully by then they redesign the iD8 and make it look better so I can order an M2.

Congrats on getting what you wanted! Hopefully your wait isn't too long.

Mine went from “Ready for Transport” since 6/29
to “In transit” this afternoon. Yippee! Is calling Genius the only way to find out which ship it’s on? Or does the tracking online show it ?

You have to call Genius. They close in an hour, I'd get on it!

Still stuck in Final Assembly since 6/22. I called Genius again and even he thought the wait at this stage was unusual. He confirmed there were no holds or stop sales. He was probably the most proactive person I've spoken to yet, and offered to have it escalated to a supervisor. He took all my info, apologized for the inconvenience, said it would be assigned to a supervisor within the hour and I should expect a call back early part of tomorrow.

I wanted to update my timeline for continuity. These most recent updates all came today. If anyone knows the status codes I'm missing, please do share. Thanks.

Order received (111) - Unknown Date
Spec'd at dealer - 4/30/22 (took over an existing allocation)
Scheduled for production (112) - 5/12 (Week 23)
Production begins (150) - 6/1
Entering assembly line (153) - 6/10
Assembly in Progress (154) - 6/20
Quality Check (155) - 6/20
Final assembly (160) - 6/22
Ready for transport (165) - 6/24
Awaiting carrier assignment (?) - 7/6
Dispatched from factory (?) - 7/6
At the port (?) - 7/6
In transit (195) - 7/6 (on Glovis Spirit, expected arrival at NYCPOA 7/18)
At the dealership -
Vehicle delivered -

Production date: 6/10>6/13>6/14>6/13>6/17>6/21>6/22

2 months, 6 days so far since I created my build at the dealer. Am I the fastest to go through this process so far? I guess we'll have to see when it gets to the port and they have to install my M Performance goodies. Hopefully they turn that around pretty quick.

My car was in "Ready for Transport" for about a week and a half, then jumped to "In Transit" this morning! It skipped the 3 steps in between, or else ripped through them overnight while I was snoozing. My car must be on the same boat with you guys above that also got "In Transit" today! Woo-Hoo, Finally!

Did you ever find out the reason for the delay?

Nope. There were a few of us together who sat in final assembly that long. Then we all got put on the same ship. It seems recently people haven't been stuck as long. Im assuming it's parts related but I can't confirm. Hope yours gets pushed along soon though.

Hmm, that you all waited then went on the same ship is promising.. I think the next ship for my destination port (Brunswick, GA) is 7/12 (and was delayed, previously scheduled for 7/7 arrival at Veracruz). So hoping it is waiting to move to the port in the next couple days to meet this ship.

Hope you are enjoying yours!!

Hopefully that's your ship then! I still haven't got mine. It's on the RCC Amsterdam. Sitting in Baltimore currently. Next stops my port (NJ). Hopefully it goes fast from port to dealership!

This is really becoming frustrating, since not a single person at BMW seems to know, or give 2 $hits about what is going on for the clients.
I would wait and be patient it's honestly worth having a vehicle you have built and waited for, just feels different being in a vehicle you yourself have tailored to your needs. Fingers crossed it's just comms delays from now as a lot more have been produced recently.

At least you won't have to wait the month journey to Europe as you're in the US.

Good luck and I have my fingers crossed for you

Oh and btw they confirmed "end of July" production for me so I'm assuming we'll be riding the production line together. Woohoo!!

I'd say it's going to be a good 5 almost 6 months from start to finish.
I've been waiting with an allocation since 03/29

Appreciate it! However at this point, i'm not getting the vehicle that I "BUILT" I'm not getting iD7, i'm not getting the TN/TR combo I wanted, and quite frankly being told 8-12 weeks was ok, not ideal but given the current standings in every manufacturing industry I understood. But 12+ weeks and still no production date is absurd to me.

I get that it's a new vehicle and it is being "BUILT" (nothing at this price point is custom built) but it isn't an INDIVIDUAL/M/LIMITED EDITION vehicle where understandably things take longer, but the entry level BMW coupe. Not what you expect from a "premium" brand

I see you are from Pittsburgh. I'm in Johnstown. I came close to dealing with Swickley BMW, but ended up going with a dealership all the way in Mechanicsburg, PA.

For those that are still waiting for their cars, the wait is going to be brutal (if you don't have an allocation, it'll be even worse). When you first place your order, you won't think much of it. You'll just be excited having just ordered a brand new car. When it really starts tests your patience is when you start going back and forth from 105 to 112. If your order went straight to status 150 then consider yourself lucky. My best advice is to spec out your car the best you can on the initial order. I know it happens, sometimes we want to change the color, we start second guessing the wheels, options, etc. Just set it and forget it if you want to avoid further delays. Once you hit 150, you'll feel relieved knowing that your car is finally being built. If everything goes according to plan, you should breeze through the build process within a week or two. Once your car is fully assembled, your anxiety might start to build up again. You'll be sitting at "final assembly" or "ready for transport" for a couple weeks anxiously waiting for a vessel. Once you find out which vessel you're on, the wait will be over and you'll be excited from here on. Anyways, here's an update on my timeline:

2022 m240i x-drive
Order Placed: 3/5
Scheduled for production: 3/5
(went back to 105 to 112 multiple times)
Production begins: 6/1
Exterior body assembly begins: Skipped
In the paint booth: Skipped
Entering assembly line: 6/10
Assembly in progress: 6/20
Quality check: 6/20
Final assembly: 6/20
Ready for transport: 6/27
Awaiting carrier assignment: 7/6
Dispatched from factory: 7/6
At the port: 7/6
In transit 7/6

Nice! Super close then. I'll definitely post up pictures. I got some parts waiting for it already, including the M performance spoiler. I went with a dealer out east too. My dealer is in the Scranton area. I'm taking delivery at my buddies shop, CBtuning, which isn't far from Mechanicsburg!

As promised, I received a call from a Genius supervisor assuring me that the car has been completely built, there are no holds on the car and it is only awaiting ship assignment.

From what little I can see, the Morning Cello is scheduled to reach Veracruz on 7/12 and is the next one that makes a stop at Brunswick, GA, my arrival port.
