It's not as simple as it won't look good if you don't lower with spacers.

It's not all about looks (and looks are subjective anyway)

Spacers with lowering increases opportunities for rubbing as well as potentially impacting a number of things that can impact driving dynamics both positively and negatively

Personally, I lowered for aesthetics but have zero interest in spacers and think it looks great, sounds like you don't and that's totally fine.

But people do different things for different reasons and you can absolutely have one without the other, individuals can consider what's important to *them* and go from there.

Looks clean. I love my R8, worth every penny for directional arrows where I live. I have the suction cup mount + mirror tap, goal is to eventually replace it with a different mount (not blend mount though that shit is a rip off).

Mind sharing what mount you used?

The very definition of why blendmount is a ripoff! Also, under the mirror is way too low on our cars, it blocks a ton or your view.

There's another slightly less stealth one that looks good on this thread: https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2138012

Boom just ordere that first one that's sick. Only time I take my detector off is if I'm parking somewhere I don't trust and don't want anyone having a reason to break in, but this is so stealthy it might be okay to leave on.

The mirror was a bitch to get into though and it was a struggle to angle the fuse taps in 😂😅

You can still take the detector down, works just like the mounts that come with it pressing the button on top to release. I feel less inclined to take mine down now, would only take it down parking for long periods in worse areas (which I almost never do. )

I guess I got lucky on the mirror tap but I have somewhat slender fingers. Luckily it's a one and done job.

Yeah I would never have thought I needed a radar detector until I got a car that's this easy to accidentally speed in, never looking back now.

To be fair most things I've done to this car I would've never imagined myself doing until I got a car that was 400HP of performance

Can you post pics of your fitment without spacers? I'm curious what it looks like.

Its wild how easily you can accidentally go 100+ in this car. It's not even noticeable to be going 100, you have to really be paying attention.

There's a primary reason why lowered suspension and properly fitted wheels go together. As the front suspension is lowered, the camber increases, and the top of the wheel moves inward. There is no adjustment of the camber in the front.

So, what looks passable at stock height is further inward when lowered.

Theres no reason to avoid spacers. As I said above, the wheel bearings won't be affected by such a small change. Sometimes people put spacers on, then their wheel bearings go bad, and they blame the spacer when the bearing probably was going to fail anyway. Also, some car brands have worse bearings than others, and OE (read, not oem) wheel bearings are notoriously bad but routinely get used by independent shops.

The tuxmats are awesome I have the same ones. They were markedly better on my Lexus NX350H though. What I mean is they properly bucketed under the seat, so nothing could spill out of the mats unlike these where it can roll under the seat.

The mats in the back though are pretty scrunched up, I can't get them to sit seamlessly where they tuck in under the seat. I'm just digging thru this chat so sorry for responding to old comments lol

Look is a 10/10, exactly what I wanted.

Fitment is maybe a 7/10 - the seam on the diagonal doesnt sit tight because I think I would need to pull the bumper to get the clips to engage.

Quality probably 6/10 (one of the parking sensor lugs popped off, glued it back on just fine but it shouldnt do that)

overall, its a win for now but because I bought from Aliexpress I cant get it replaced. I only paid $250 after sales.

In my opinion, I would (and may) buy from a supplier like RW carbon so that you can ensure fitment and have USA support, even if they are the "same" part marked up I bet the QC on the pricier part is better.

In order to take advantage of my potential to return the ali parts. I have ordered the RW carbon version of this part. I will do a side by side comparison. Maybe we can all learn something about cf importers versus aliexpress suppliers!

Yeah, that passenger side parking sensor hole looks a bit wonky.

Just a weird reflection. It looks the same as the other side.

Like I said, the diagonal seam isn't tight to the bumper. That's the only flaw in the parts.

Wait why can't you get it replaced? Ali has approved returns for me and even paid for shipping before when things didn't arrive as expected

I don't expect the replacement part to be any better than the original. Also these took over a month to arrive.

I will try but I bought different grilles to sub in. I will return them if the others are better quality.
