Get a life. Focus on you and your car. Since you got to this forum and started posting nonsense threads after ordering your pure frozen grey (without a carbon roof LOL) you’ve been nothing short of annoying and not helpful. Opposite of what we need here.

Apologize to everyone for having to read this nonsense, I’m just sick of this F’ing toad troll.

I find it funny that people get so adamant about not getting ppf, as if it's some badge of honor getting rock chips in the paint. It's also telling how people treat very expensive items (or maybe it's not very expensive to them) because they'll just get a new one in a couple years.

It's not just here, there's multiple threads on Corvette forum of people saying $2k to protect the paint on their $100k Corvette is a waste of money. But then they'll spend $4k on aero components for looks at cars & coffee.

Why not the same outrage when people spend $$ on window tint, car covers, rear spoilers, aftermarket wheels, or anything else deemed unnecessary?

On the G87, the gap is less, and maybe a little 3m tape would make it perfect.

These are the automotive passion, and the customer service has been amazing, when the first package was lost by USPS.
I believe some 1/4 or 1/2" 3M double sided automotive tape would certainly help. I'm still waiting on a set for my X3 MC & getting stuff from the UK takes a long time.

tl;dr: PPF isn't all its cracked up to be.

My opinion and YMMV RE: PPF and "Cheap" Carbon Parts.

Just to be devils advocate about not performing PPF I had 2 F80s. The first M3 had a full front clip wrap, A-pillars, front of roof, mirrors and rocker panels. Xpel Ultimate Plus. Had the car for 3 years.

Second F80 I just ceramic coated, no wrap, had it for 4 years. The first car looked awful at the end of 3 years (PPF) - so many rock chips that perforated and peeled up sections of the wrap yet still chipped the paint. Mirrors the same. The peeled up sections where the perforations occurred looked bad and were quite visible, had to cut sections away. Fine and good and you can re-wrap for another 2K, but now you're 4K into PPF over the life of the car.

Second car (no PPF) had the usual rock chips any car gets. They were not bigger than the number or size of the chips in the PPF'ed car. There were 2 large chips that I touched up and buffed out, looked fine. The chips on the non-PPF car were less noticeable because there weren't multiple areas of lifted up PPF.

As for the CF Bits: Both cars had the MP CF Rear Spoiler. Second Car had the "Cheap Chinese" CF mirror caps and knockoff CS front spoiler. I had no yellowing of those things. They both got chipped to hell as obviously in high impact areas. Those are cheap enough to just change out after 2-3 years. If I did CF mirror caps on mine I would totally get the cheapest ones possible because they will get beat up over a couple of years, then just replace them with another set of cheap-o CF caps. 2 sets of Chinese CF bits were still waaaay cheaper than the MP Mirror caps.

Some of us car people just drive the thing and don't want to sink a lot of money into them and don't mind the "Patina" over time that occurs and some of us are more "curators" of the cars and like them clean all the time and in top condition (not talking about garage queens, that's a separate disease of its own , we know who we are ). The M2 I have ordered I believe will be a long-termer because I truly believe these are the last manuals BMW offer ever and (if that is true) will keep it until it falls apart. For that reason I am debating PPF knowing it will need re-wrapping every 3 years or so based upon where I live and my past experience. Sorry this is long, but maybe provides some insight for those who have never had PPF before. If you're keeping the car for many years, expect to have to maintain the PPF just like anything else.

The ppf argument is funny.

I’ll keep mine short. Full xpel front ppf on my sti for 10 years. Started to yellow so I removed it. I had one little chip from a large impact. After removal 1 year later the whole front bumper was peppered with spots.

Just do whatever your comfortable with. To me, I have living proof it was worth it so I had it applied to my M2 as well.

Got my Suvneer front lip in. I did think about having if ppf’d but decided against it. Something that low I’m more worried about cracking from hitting something. I’d rather use the extra money to replace it if that happens.

You doing matching Suvneer side skirts or no? I'm back and forth between the Suvneer front lip and the MHC v1.

Yeah just gonna keep it the same with Suvneer. I like the MHC kit a lot too but for the price I didn’t want to waste that much if it broke.

Agreed. Price on the Suvneer is great in comparison. Debating if sides need to go on at the same time to balance out the aggressive nature of that specific lip. Post some pics on the car when you get a chance!

Might be a bit lol. Once I hit break in, I’ll take it in to my local shop for suspension, wheels, Suvneer stuff, and exhaust.

I think much of the argument against ppf results from either bad product, poor installation, or both.

I've had excellent experience with ppf on 5 of my vehicles. No yellowing, no rock chips that went through the film and through the paint. The film is self-healing. If you get a chip, put the car out in the sun or take a hair dryer to it. If you have chips all over the ppf, yeah you're not maintaining it. Without it, your paint would look even worse.

I've had a couple corners lift up, or a bubble not go away. The shop takes care of it without any question. All the vehicles I have covered with ppf look the same at 20k mi, 35k mi, 55k miles as they did the day it was installed. On one of my wife's vehicles the ppf was ruined by gasoline or some other fluid leaking from a truck on the interstate. Xpel replaced it all for free.

I've also received more on my trades, per the dealer, because the vehicles were in such exceptional condition for the miles due to the ppf. This is directly from the dealers on the last 3 vehicles we traded in. So it essentially paid for itself.

Again people are free to buy what they want. If you had a poor experience with it, examine the other factors associated with that experience. There's a reason very expensive vehicles are covered with ppf.

I had my front CS lip PPF’d on my M4 for $75 and it was worth it IMO. It took a beating but the ppf preserved it very well. Best thing was that for a piece like that, you can haggle a decent price for the PPF for it

This was yesterday, but gave it it’s first real bath. Started with Gyeon foam out of an iK pump, along with Meg’s ultimate wheels. Then, later, hit it with some ONR using a boatload of The Rag Company Mags, and dried it up with some Griots Ceramic Speed Shine.

I think in the future, the foam is probably overkill, but the ONR and Speed Shine were fantastic. So easy to use, looking forward to my next wash.
