Seems pretty clear why it would be law. Safety.

I show you the result after installing the Eibach Pro Kit, which lowers the car about 20mm
Pretty satisfied, it seems like it should have come from factory
Opinions? Jeje

elprincep I love the eibach pro-kit, I had them on my Subaru BRZ. They get rid of fender gap while still allowing you to daily the car without worrying about scraping all of the time. Agreed BMW should provide an option like this from the factory. I cannot stand the “lower is better” mindset.

The sunshade on my M240i broke so I dropped it off at the dealer, also hoping they can fix the iDrive screen rattle and cupholder rattle. They gave me a 230i as a loaner this time (thank god, hated the 530i) and it's surprisingly quick still. You can definitely feel the reduced weight in the front end on turns, although I think a few glowing reviews of how much better it feels over the M240i are way too exaggerated. It's a tradeoff for the 100+ hp and I'll take the B58 over the slightly lighter front end. The two biggest complaints on this car are the base stereo system is a crime and has no business being in a BMW, and the M sport suspension is too harsh. The base stereo surprised me as to how bad it was, while I've already (unfortunately) experienced the M sport and it's just as bad as I remembered.

I think if someone wanted an M240i but only had 230i money, they would still be happy compromising as long as they don't mind the suspension. Definitely don't skimp on the stereo though, I know HK gets mixed reviews from folks around here but I love mine and it is night and day compared to HiFi, at least in the 2 series.

I think HK is great for what it is, it just still has a ton of room for improvement, some of which is quite cheap to do.

Dont tell that certain someone about your impressions of the 230! I actually wonder if we scared him off entirely.

I have the HK stereo in mine and I rented a '23 or '24 4-Series convertible this summer which had the base stereo. I found the base stereo lacks any sort of crisp high end that you get with the tweeters on the HK, and it's clearly lacking in bass too. The mids should be about the same, but with a lack of lower and upper frequencies, it just makes the whole sound experience lackluster. I agree that the base stereo performs too poorly for a "luxury" product, even if it is a base model.

I think the worst stereo I've had in a car was the Bose audio in my 2016 Corvette and it was much better than this. I think even the 40 year old speakers in my IROC-Z are in the ballpark which is kind of ridiculous.

My wife has a 21 X3 with HiFi and it sounds better than the one in the 2 series. Still not excellent, but better.

Haven't seen him in a while, but we better be careful or we might end up summoning him.

What are the typical cheap upgrades? I've seen some talk on drop in speaker upgrades and a $1500 amp from Bimmertech but have no experience with either.

https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=145 Thats like $150 worth of sound deadening and speaker grille insulation. Its a time commitment to install but not very hard. Whenever we are trying to make good acoustics, the environment is the first variable you need to lock down.

I could definitely see how the M sport suspension would not be for everyone, it’s quite firm. Luckily I like it, feels sporty to me- I tend to corner very enthusiastically. Also, my last car had adaptive dampers and I almost never used them. Haven’t heard the base audio system.

Probably a good bet that the loaner was equipped with run flats, which would make the ride that much more harsh. Koopa, did you see what tires you had?

To me, the passive M Sport suspension doesn't seem harsh, but a lot of that has to do with what I perceive as "harsh".

Ugh my M240i came with hifi. Turning ASD completely off made a big difference since the speakers weren't being muffled by the car's fake audio. It's actually goodb enough for me now!

Started getting these little specs on my Brooklyn Grey M240i. Never really had that before, and I do a touchless wash every two weeks. Dealer detailed it two weeks ago.

I'm planning on buying an iron remover, like Adam's. I think these are little rust spots? What the hell though, this is a 2024 model why is it even getting these? Is this normal?

Any tips?

(I don't care to get a PPF/ceramic for the cost as eventually in the next few (maybe 3-4) years I'll wanna wrap the car if I decide to keep it based on it's performance after warranty. Rather save the money for that.)

I didn't check, but I had an M340i with M sport suspension and when I went from runflats to standard tires it did help a little but not enough for me. Suspension comfort is pretty subjective and for me, M Sport is just too busy and jarring for a daily car.

I'd hit it with a clay bar and see if they come up. Hard to tell what's going on in the picture.

If you are getting raildust, carpro iron x is what you want. Do not try to clay it off.

Normal on light colored cars. All cars get them but you can't see it as easily.

That's what I read! I ordered the Adams iron remover. I'll cancel and get the car pro iron x. It's for sure rail dust like you called it

I had 2 white cars in the past 10 years, I still have like 2 bottles of ironx left over.

Is your car ceramic coated?

It's not, no ppf/ceramic. She's got a couple rock chips for sure, but I heard a coating doesn't last that long and price I was quoted was real high

It can be a lot more work to ceramic coat a car that has been out and about for a while, which can increase paint correction costs.

It does last quite a long time, if cared for.

Its by no means necessary, but my first white car didn't have ceramic coating and collected a lot of rail dust, I was using iron x monthly. I got the second one ceramic coated and it only needed 1 or 2 washes with iron x in the 1.5 years I had the car.

Clearly you've never driven an 86/BRZ
