The E70 wasn’t available in a manual, and the other two you referenced went out of production 9 and 13 years ago. All of those were also SUV’s, which there’s about a 0% chance of being offered as a stick today. If you’re going to use examples for AWD sticks from BMW, the 3-Series offered AWD and a stick as recently as the 340i xDrive sedan that just ended production last year. That’s a much more applicable and recent example.
Agreed. I had one of those rare E53 manuals.....

No one is saying it can't be done. Of course it can be done. Even the F30 340i was offered in AWD with a manual transmission.

The problem is that they're trying to reduce drivetrain configurations to reduce costs. EVERYONE is doing this because of the amount of money being spent on EV development. I also feel like they're trying to hunker down as some signs point to a possible downturn in auto sales and maybe even a recession.

If the G80 6MT RWD was up in the air, then what do you think the chances of an AWD 6MT being produced are? It's still possible of course, but it makes sense that BMW wouldn't make it. We'll see I guess.

Here's to my oddball hoping that this is a 375 hp, 3000lb 4 banger version...true CSL. This would be interesting.

Will or wont the G80 be at the Frankfurt show? Yes or no.
Really unlikely. As mentioned before, the F83 EOP is August 2020, so the G80/82 will most likely be revealed in September of 2020. Not much sense in revealing a new model when the F8x is still being produced.
This doesn't make sense to me. Why have they stopped F80 production so early then?

3000lbs and 375hp on 4 cylinder you can't get much more out of that engine.

Mercedes is the only one with 416hp 4cylinder

I rather get 3500lbs G80 M3 and tune it to have way over 600+hp

Weight to power ratio is much better.

M car production always stops at the same time as its series sibling.

I LIKE the front page photo.

it took 6 days for any updates since 08/01 so I presume all the bimmerpost moderators were either on vacation for a week or they were all needed to collaborate on the front page design...

SEDAN production BEGINS and ENDS 1 year sooner than coupe.

that's EXACTLY why the F80 sedan stopped because the G20 SEDAN is on the STREET right now and the 4 series G22 is not (yet);

4 series production ends next summer, and the next gen 4 series including G82 production will begin afterward.

I respectfully disagree..

I will take the 3000 lb hottie (if it's RWD) over the 3500 lb fat chick any day...

you can have power to weight.. all I know... is when you are dancing and the fat chick steps on your foot.. it HURTS.

A 3000lb M car would be amazing. Unfortunately it's basically impossible considering the M2 isn't even much lighter than the M3.

BMW is having too much fun making 4600 lbs ///M SUVs to be bothered.

When you say special M2 for US only, does that include Canada as well? I ask because the cars are specced the same, sans instrument cluster.

That's right. But then there's always the country's local BMW office that makes the final call.

Power doesn't help the handling tho and it's easier to enjoy lightweight around town and track than just trying to throw more power at a heavier car. Adding lightness is underappreciated!

Adding power only improves acceleration. Reducing weight improves acceleration, braking, turns, everything

Buttt it costs a lot less to throw a bunch of options at a car than trying to market a "driver's car" in 2019. The only car that can ride that wave forever is the Miata, because iconic.
