I want the focus to continue to be in driving dynamics...and for crying out loud, improved steering!

I'd be good with a small bump in HP to like 415. Just make this thing awesome to drive with a good sounding exhaust. And maybe a better sounding HK stereo.

Edit: and good call out above. I noticed that front overhang as well and do not like. makes me wonder how planted the vehicle could feel with such a short wheel base relative to the body length
Cause you drive slow just kidding but go onto the track section and see how many track rats mod for horsepower on the OG and you get the idea...

Hell I even find my M2C slow even though I am not after horsepower.

Practically, it has to be competitive against the current and upcoming range of performance cars. A90 Supra, RS3 and A45 aside, it makes no sense for BMW to charge a 50%+ premium on the M2 over the 400Z, STi and Civic type R while only offering a similar level of straight line performance. I am sure all the aforementioned cars upcoming are going to have great driving dynamics. The current Supra and A45 certainly has it.

I agree with you that the driving dynamics has to be a focus but both great handling and acceleration prowess are attributes on the performance chart that they need to make strides on. One must not neglect one for the other.
I don't find my m2c slow on the track 🙈

Color me crazy but isn't that a "sensor" and if that is a sensor doesn't that mean there might be a big grill? I'm just asking! 🤷*♂️

On the new m3/m4 that sensor didn’t fit between the two new grills and got moved off center into one of the grills. That center low position is the same position as the current f90 m5. Hopefully it points toward less extreme grills.

Will be interesting to see how the G87 M2 progresses over the next couple of years, engine no doubt will be a beast and the interior will be better.

However, the cosmetic appearance of the car is still unknown

Funny you mention an AC/DC number, they originated from the tiny town I live in, Adelaide, South Australia

Now I have a smile on my face looking at this beautiful yacht

While I agree, I oddly stumbled upon a C8 Corvette allocation late yesterday. I should know right away tomorrow morning if I can indeed buy it, so I may be hauling ass 6 hours from home with the checkbook at 8:00am. Obviously a huge deviation from my original plan, and a complete off subject comment. Long story short, I’ll likely wait it out to see what this new M2 all entails.

Still would love for them to figure out a way to make these sensors blend in more - looks very retro-fitted.

It definitely looks longer and less compact than the 1M and F87 M2. Its proportions are more similar to the F82 M4, even if its actual length lies probably between the F87's and the F82's. Front overhang seems huge, as on the normal 2-series coupe mules.

Maybe you're sorry what you wish for - the iX has that sensor integrated into the double kidney...

Good comparison, but needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as prototype cars still have bolt on camo up front

BMW M2 2022: First Erlkönig photos show the F87 successor

The BMW M2 G87 has been talked about and written for a long time, now there are also the first Erlkönig photos of the F87 successor. You can see the photos of a camouflaged prototype at our Spanish colleagues from Motor.es and anyone who has previously doubted the plans for a continuation of the compact sports series can now sit back and relax and look forward to the things that may come: Despite With strong camouflage, a few corner points are already clearly visible, including the silhouette, which is strongly reminiscent of its predecessor, with a long bonnet, the first row of seats practically in the middle and a relatively short trunk lid.

The result is a compact coupé with almost ideal proportions: we can assume that the engine is positioned far back in the engine compartment and thus close to the center of the vehicle, thus laying the foundation for the balanced weight distribution typical of BMW. At the moment everything indicates that the BMW M2 G87 will be unveiled in 2022 with an as yet unknown variant of the twin-turbo in-line six-cylinder S58: While the engine has so far been offered in two expansion stages with 480 and 510 hp, we initially expect a slightly weaker version for the M2 Expansion stage with expected around 440 hp. Directly at the market launch, however, a BMW M2 Competition could also be offered, which moves in the previously usual S58 performance regions.

The technical platform of the BMW M2 G87 is even more important than the exact performance specification, because the top model of the new 2-series variant G42 is based on the current BMW cluster architecture (CLAR) and is therefore closely related to the 3-series G20. While all other 1 and 2 Series have been converted to the UKL architecture with transverse engine and front-wheel drive, the 2 Series Coupé and thus also the M2 remain with rear-wheel drive - and promise driving pleasure according to the old recipe.

For M GmbH it will be the third premium in a segment that is actually characterized by other concepts. But the BMW 1 Series M Coupé and the first M2 have more than clearly shown how big the market is for a rear-wheel drive compact sports car. A change in the successful recipe could hardly have been explained against this background.

However, patience is still required before the market launch of the new BMW M2 G87: at least a year will pass between the introduction of the 2 Series Coupé G42 at the end of 2021 and the start of the M2. At the moment we are expecting an official presentation including all pictures and facts in 2022, but by the time it is handed over to the first customers, a 2023 could possibly be on the calendar.

Agreed and I don't usually care much about weight but +500lb is insane when I was convinced we would be staying flat or even decreasing after the F8x.
