It must be just me but the M Perf parts go a long way to making the car a lot less bland and a lot less like a knock-off. It looks like something I wouldn't be embarrassed to have in my fleet (if I could have 6 cars).

Wow. I almost never post anything negative, and its all been said, but I just couldn't sit out on this pile on...Unbelievably tacky. Is that really an M2 decal on the hood of the red car??

This is some bold stuff. Hate it or love it, doing the same thing over and over again is boring. BMW has some courage going into this, like they did with the G8x, and I dig it.

Regards,

A G80 owner w/M Perf exhaust

Same thing happened when the G80 debuted. There will be some that come back and end up purchasing, some will take it to their grave and swear off BMW and even get blocked because they can't hold their composure. Then you have the ones that say they are catering to the Asian market. At the end of the day BMW will sell a ton of these cars and that's why they will always be relevant. It is actually funny seeing people lose their shit over it.

Uh OK, so basically slap carbon bits to hide a bad design. Shouldn't it look great without the Fast and Furious make over!

Why? This is just disappointing.

This is probably a result of people working from home during covid???

So.. specked up an M2 on the UK configurator..M2 comfort pack, M Drivers Pack, M Race Track Package.. £70,860 for a baby M2.. the entry level M Car!, $80K dollars..$110k Canadian… add £6K, $8k or $10k Canadian for M performance package. Example: New M3 competition.. £78K, $88k, $121k Canadian… used M4 coupe competition - (loaded) April 2022 3,800 miles £67K, $75k.. $104k Canadian.

I purchased an M2 brand new in 2018 for £51k, $57k, $79k Canadian..

How can BMW justify these prices for new entry level M cars?!! Where's the affordability of a true M car?

Inflation is a factor, but I would suggest this is the M strategy playing out. With the split tiers of M performance, and M high performance (and recently electrified performance). If you aren't quite ready to pay the full M tax - there are many other M gateway models laden with partially earned M badges.

Anyone heard if we are going to be able to spec the Bronze 1000M's as seen on some of the early spy shots?

It's pretty obvious the rear bumper was designed with these m performance parts in mind. I'll reserve judgement until I see some of these in person with these parts. It's not the design for me but rather the unnecessary bulk added on this generation. It's almost 300 lb heavier than my f87cs

I dont mind the base car at all, but these parts only serve to accentuate the mild criticisms I have of it. This is really hard to look at - civic type r and WRX mated and this is the offspring.

I could tell you but then some would complain about it being stereotype or racist lol.. At the end of the day though they have to design a car more towards who would spend more and buy more so I guess they figured if this is what is needed to produce more sales then so be it. Remember 2 & 3 series took a 50% hit after Tesla entered into their market share. Back in the days in Irvine just about every other car driven by probably 50% of a particular ethnic group of the population was a BMW owner but now they are Tesla owners of the Model 3 and Y series cars. The Teslas here are like iPhones now lol.. Compare the BMW car sales chart to Tesla and you will see which ones rose and which ones dropped. Then look at previous car buyers and new cars buyers.

Jesus. Someone took a great looking stock sedan and ruined it with all that shit. Bizarre to me anyone would think that looks better. My F80 CS is one of the last great looking M cars. Not sure where I'll go after this. I'm thinking Aston Martin Vantage tho.

We've surely come a far far way off the E28 M5 and M cars from around that time.
More low key.

This shouts aftermarket partsbin, but comes straigth from the car's manufacturer.

15 years ago this would be the cover car of BMW Performance magazine.

Does the younger audience (who somehow has 100k for this car) actually like this stuff? Personally it is hideous but I'm starting to think I'm not the demographic for this car.

As a ~25yr old who's picking one up, I love the car's design, don't care for most of the M Performance parts (I think the exhaust and big wing could look good but all the other bits seem pointless).
