"BMW" told you this?

There are cars with no port installed items that get delayed, cars that have port installed items that get delayed, cars with no port installed items that barely stay long enough to touch the ground, cars with port installed items that go through quickly, cars that get delivered to a port that is not the proper POE, get delayed while waiting to go to the correct port to have items installed, and any and all other scenarios one can come up with.

Overall, delivery of the G87s have been poorly managed.

And to think I'm 26 days in from allocation/order placement and still at 111. In just 91 days I'll beat that record - oh~, wait! That is not a record you want to hold.

Yes my friend. You're going to be shocked, but there is such a thing as a "telephone". And if you have one and can find your way to the "dial pad" and enter this number: 1-800-831-1117, you too can experience an auto dial attendant that will test your last nerve.

Here's a tip: keep hitting zero when she asks you questions, and you will be connected with a real live human being, who will ask you for your production/order number or the last 7 of your VIN.

Their system is the most up-to-date and you won't have to wait for your CA to wake up from his or her nap to return your inquiry.

Give it a try so you too can talk to "BMW"

Well my friend, as you like to say, you are a bit lacking on the subject. BMW NA has no further factual details to provide than the man in the moon. Youvreally think that some BS general answer applies to everyone? Thats ok, you keep on thinking what they are feeding they are feeding you is the honest truth.

Maybe if you read some of the posts, you would understand.

Oh, and here is a tip...I dont need to google any number to call NA. Why is that, cause one of my best friends works for NA.

I attempted this with two Porsche dealers only to be passed over for cars I asked for or to be raked over the coals on price. They weren’t even rare cars. It’s all an illusion. Relationship to them means “sucker with a bankroll”.

That's real cute, Carefree. Certainly adds a lot of value to the convo on this forum.

I would have thought senior contributors would be more focused on substance rather that trying to bait other posters into body part measuring contests.

I am here to share info and gain perspective on why my order is delayed. If you and this other jovial guy above are more into pissing into everyone else's cornflakes, you're just souring the experience for everyone.

I think that you and Carefree each have to share the blame for snarkiness.

Emotions are running high with all these idiotic delays that appear to arise at least in part from incompetence by BMW. They can't timely deliver built cars that drop into a black hole. Shareholders should be pissed.

And then there is another layer of incompetence in BMWs tracking system that has collapsed on itself. The amount of actual data on these cars built in Mexico is slim to none.

If anyone thought the tracking system with German built cars was annoying, the Mexican factory is far, far worse.

Rant off.

and for those that are getting frustrated with all the delays, hang in there because this car is awesome, fast and fun to drive. Feels much lighter and nimbler than a g80

i had been waiting on an M3 allocation, and my dealer called me yesterday with an open M2 build slot with October production.... sold. no ADM, free VIN etching, no fuss. such a huge contrast to trying to get other performance cars new, i was shocked.

-BSM, black interior (non M), aluminum trim, no shadowline, heated steering wheel, carbon roof, parking assistant.

super simple stuff. will try to keep updated here as i move along the process

Jovial one, here. The issue is, there has been more discussions than needed on the delays, from placing irser/deposits, allocations all the way to delivery (the horse has been beaten to death). Calling NA or the Genius line will get you some type of answer, but most to all responses are just something they say to make one feel better. They dont actually have access to the most up-to-date information nor can they say exactly why any aspect of the entire process is delayed (or if they could, they certainly arent going to expose themselves by doing so).

**beating the dead horse some more** Your CA is the one to contact for most up-to-date accurate status on your car. If you are calling to request or demand answers as to the delays in each or any step, good luck with that. In most cases, nobody will be able to provide accurate information there. I guess you could fight City Hall...

I'm sure BMW would like to deliver the cars quickly and on schedule, but the delays for them and other car manufacturers are quite beyond their control: https://theloadstar.com/traffic-jams...sel-schedules/

BMW is 100% focused on building production capacity located close to the larger markets (US, Europe, China) for their high volume, high profit vehicles - I.E. SUVs/Crossovers.

That is why there are crossover factories in the US, China, Europe.

SUVs/Crossovers drive BMWs financials and they focus on it. Same at Porsche and everyone else.

For us, enthusiasts, who want an M car or a P GT car, tough luck. We have to endure the indignities of dealer allocation lists, the
ridiculous ordering, tracking and waiting process.

M2s need to come out of a single land locked factory in Mexico and be transported via truck->rail->ship->truck/rail->truck to dealers in Europe, the US, China, etc where they are sold. There is no production close to markets.

It is what it is, but that is the source of all the frustration.

Posting here as well since I am a lil shakin' leaf over here

Car switched back to 'in transit' from 'at the port'.

Confirmed it left on a truck to the dealership 40 mins ago!!! Only 1.5 hour drive, hoping it goes straight there. Today is probably a stretch, but I should be able to take delivery tomorrow!!

There was another M2 my dealer has coming from same ship/port... it's still there. My very first sliver of luck has arrived, nearly 6 months after my allocation. LETS GOOOOOOOOO

Maybe I am missing something but I dont get your point.

Landlocked? The Spartanburg plant, by definition, is landlocked. There are also M versions of the SUVs that go via allocation. Dingolfing is no different.

The M3/M4/M5 from Germany also need to go through the same processes to be delivered to buyers outside of Germany, and have the same timing issues. How is this any different than Mexico? The ports in the US are over full and screwed up, regardless of where the ship comes from. At least the ship ride from Veracruz to the east coast ports us shorter than Germany to the US.

Its not just BMW with these delay issues, uts all foreign manufacturers.

Not trying to criticize, just replying and trying to figure out what you are trying to say.

Spreadsheet update

I have updated the spreadsheet and added total days from allocation to arrival at the dealer, which I think is a key stat. You can see it has gone down on average from early May allocations on.
