Interesting - I guess it "stretches" the pixels to fit. Nevertheless at 15mm you can afford to lose a bit of field of view and are still within serious UWA territory. Thanks for posting the comparo.

A fun shot... cooked this one a bit extra to fit the subject

Another shot with my Nex6 and Sigma 30. This is a fun little camera. I'm taking it along with the big boys to Lassen National Park tomorrow to see how it does with some landscape.

I guess the 500 combo is a 1:1 macro?

Not exactly. With a 25mm extension tube and a 2.0X TC I can get around .5 magnification, from around 12-feet. It's great with big bugs, little birds and little mammals. I suppose if I stack another ET and stack another TC, I could approach 1:1.

What you're seeing here is the magic of 1,000mm, resulting from the 500mm plus the 2.0X TC-III. The angle of view is only a few degrees, but I still cropped a little from 20 or 25-feet.

Great page here, again!

A shot from a few weeks ago I never uploaded - something to break the multitude of racing shots I've been posting ...

Yup, I like those last two also.

Dave, I figured it was nowhere near 1:1 but the cropped image was near life size on my screen.

On my way to Lassen Park this morning, I had a nice surprise driving through Winters California, as about 5 hot air balloons were flying over the area. I pulled over and got out my big artillery to shoot some, but those cameras are still in the car.

Shot out the window of my car with the Sony

And speaking of Lassen, I have tons of pictures that I will get to tomorrow, but I did patent a new technique of one handing the Nex 6 out the sunroof And before everyone gets ready to yell at me, I was stopped and no one was behind me.

On the one hand, motion blur along the sides would be nice and on the other, Lenny and Carl would be pissed if they missed a meal.

Hehe, and the little sign up ahead is 7000 feet. The speed limit is 35 though and it seemed like most people behaved. Lassen is one of the least visited parks in the system.

Man I guess it's a common pattern for the balloons. I jumped out of a balloon that looks almost exactly like that about 5 1/2 years ago, except no green when I saw your pic it reminded me of it, not that jumping out of a hot air balloon is exactly forgettable.
