His rep was telling him it would be $5000-$5500 for one of these colors, so I was hoping you could point me in the right direction to verify the $3000 price so I could show him. I did add the carbon roof, so I'm good there. Thank you for any assitance you can offer, and again I apologize if I missed this elsewhere.

Peace.
First, welcome to the forum. Individual is a $3,000 option which requires the carbon roof which is $2,600. The combined cost is $5,600. See the pricing guide here.

So much for "Individual". Nice misnomer. I wish they had a true Individual program like what I did for my E90 335i in 2008 but alas. This is more an additional "Performance color" palette option.

No it's individual.

Only an individual that really wants the color is going to pay.

Also these colors don't appear to be available on much else.

But for me it's $3000 because I was doing at least the carbon roof, if not the whole carbon package anyway. I don't need or want a sunroof.

I can see how $5600 is a big deal.

I’m most of the way there with FPB and CF roof. I thought most of people were.
Been an awful lot of complaining about the paint prices. If you want to complain, complain about the MPHAS price. Now THAT is worth complaining about.
Basically all we want is a fixed smallish drop from the factory, with warranty.
Very few are ever going to adjust beyond the port settings. Yet, now it’s a $3,000+ option.
All BMW needs is a tested, dialed, M-engineered, MP fixed lowering spring option for $900 with warranty. 92% of MPHAS buyers would have chosen that instead.

Likewise.

I’ll admit, I was hoping for the individual price to be no more than the frozen paints, but it’s not THAT much higher, not enough to alter my decision.

Sorry, I'm confused. Where in the pricing guide does it say that 490 Special Order Color requires 40C M Carbon Roof? Am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks! This was a huge help. My dealer said my car was already in "112 status", and that they may not be able to change the color from Sapphire Black to Voodoo Blue. They sent an urgent email, so now it's a waiting game. It's a little frustrating, I placed my order July 3rd, and the dealership said I had plenty of time before it went to production (112 status), but it looks like it got there faster than anticipated. Wish me luck!

If you really want Voodoo Blue and they can't change the color, I'd pass on the car and ask for their next allocation. Seems like it's the least they can do for you. If you can't wait, that sucks.

They're listed as NC, but then they require adding a $3,000 option and a $2,600 option. At any rate, my sales representative (whose been with BMW for a long time) seems to think that he can get me the A83 Glacier Silver for the $3,000 since it's already a BMW color. I don't want a carbon fiber roof if it requires that as I don't like the look. Of course, I wouldn't mind the weight savings, but carbon fiber just doesn't look good to me. When I was in college 35 years ago, I made carbon fiber parts for Gulfstream jets for extra money. Perhaps it was all those nasty black boogers that got clumped in my nose that turned me off to it. We'll see.

BTW, if y'all know of any other BMW silver metallic codes please let me know. The more metallic the better.

Let's agree to disagree. I have been able to order a car with the ability to make 3 distinct changes not available. A body color not on offering, the interior trim normally reserved to the Individual program of that time, and an option delete (I didn't want adaptive headlights to make it cheaper to swap to the Euro assemblies). BMW Canada had to OK the build. That is a true Individual program. They did it in 2008, they have the ability to do it again.

The only individual colors are the ones listed in the very first post, nothing else. I think your CA might not be aware that the M2 has limited individual options. Skyscraper Grey Metallic is a standard color for the M2 and it's only a $650 option and does not require a CF roof. You can read everything about model year 2025 in the press release.

I appreciate the insight. The press release certainly doesn't give any indication about being able to get another BMW color. BMW uses the term individual color, but 490 Special Order Color is listed on the pricing guide. Do these terms mean the same thing or something different? Words have meaning, but it might just be a translation issue. This car isn't a got to have for me, so if they can't make it happen with a silver metallic, then it just won't happen. I still can't believe BMW has two grays, but no silver.

490 is individual but the M2 is limited to four colors. Google Skyscraper grey and check out some pics, it’s more of a silver than grey in my opinion. Good luck.

San Luis Potosi is not able to paint like Munich or Dingolfing. This was also true for Leipzig and the reason no Individual paints were available for F87. My guess is you have very little shot at getting any non-standard color outside of these 4.

From the pictures and videos I've seen, Skyscraper Grey seems to lack metallic that I'm wanting. I'll have to see it in person though.

Yet, we have been told SLP has the most advance paint system of BMW.

In some ways, Individual is suited for the lowest tech setup. It was mostly hand painted off the normal line until recently. Individual has been limited in Spartanburg and South Africa also. Individual is labor dependent and it seems only a few plants are able to handle that correctly.

The custom Austin Yellow F87 M2 of Michael Fux was manually shipped from Leipzig to Munich for painting.

There’s, individually or in a combination:
- physical space for different colours to be stored
- physical space for different machinery for different colours to be used on the same line
- availability of paint from supplier at location
- product positioning (this to me is, if not combined with any other factor, THE MAIN reason): BMW didn’t offer only 4 colours on the 1M and F87 because the plants couldn’t handle it. It was a conscious decision to create a simplified offering so as to not cannibalise the M3. It still applies (and why we get no 360 camera, no ventilated seats, etc.)
I agree. I would add that SLP being a new factory might also play a role. The facility might be learning to walk after having mastered the crawl and it is not yet ready to run. The market "cannibalization" argument is a strong one however weak for bolstering a strong brand in this sector (luxury sport higher bracket car brands).

I am just disappointed. We get less flexibility for a higher price tag.

Order bank update!

NOW we’re getting some more 490 orders, the system now shows a total of 10 orders with 490 individual paint out of 272 total for the US.

Still a surprisingly low take-rate in my opinion.
