FYI, this would be covered as an extended coverage/comprehensive loss under your auto policy. Typically, the deductible applicable to EC is lower than collision. May want to check your policy. Just some friendly advice.

I think this was discussed pretty thoroughly. My insurance company said this would be covered by collision, and would most likely increase premiums. No thanks.

I will be installing the Turner myself for sure. I also have the DIY for the Zunsport screens up today too. I have full confidence in them, plus look good too. I am so glad to have them on the car now.

Saw this post and immediately bought the Zunsports.
They look great. I didn’t even think about the unprotected radiator and ESPECIALLY the oil cooler. The things just wide open 5 inches from the road just WAITING to eat a rock at 70 MPH. So dumb. I get it. It’s a “track car” and on a track, airflow is more important than worrying about a rock, but it’s also a road car first. Way more people will be daily driving these things than tracking them. This design was overlooked. |

The oil cooler is so exposed underneath it’s out of control. It’s not like that with most other cars. It was likely a design overlook or a way to cut costs. |

Look at any other series BMW and the radiator and oil cooler are not exposed like on the G87.
It’s not that other cars HAVE extra protection…it’s that other cars DONT have the exposure the G87 does. The coolers in the G87 are wide open to debris unlike other cars. I don’t understand what you’re not getting. |

It’s exactly the same on the G80 and G82.
The front rubber lip in front of the oil cooler should prevent any high velocity stones that bounce off the road from hitting it. The stones would have to be at higher than 20 degrees angle bouncing off the road to hit it and therefore likely low velocity. The biggest threat to the oil cooler is likely a careless driver dragging it across a parking stop when touch parking, especially with any securing rebar sticking up. |

I don’t understand what you’re not getting. Look at any Porsche RS vehicle or even their sport SUV models… huge openings for the front radiators. Personally I think everyone is PMS’ing over this issue but to each their own. I personally hate the look of them covered up with these protectors. If you want a protected front radiator profile then buy a Honda civic.. |

[QUOTE=DSTR;30739302]—but to each their own. — As you stated. Its up to the individual. Those who have endured this as the OP did see it otherwise. Not sure why you commented. One does not need to buy a Honda. AMG actually provided products to address this. Thats called SMART.
I commented because I can, because to each their own. I also commented because as I sift through this comment section and see the same complaint stated 25 times 25 different ways, it hurts my soul. I got time today brotha. I’ll send you one of these too. Who knows, maybe you’ll have the last laugh if it happens to me. |

Such absolutism with the Honda civic comment. This isn’t a race car. Every single one of these cars is meant first to be driven on public roads. They should be designed in a way that a catastrophic failure won’t result from typical conditions experienced on a public road. |

Besides the OP (and maybe one other?) I really haven't seen anyone have a problem with damaged radiators.. I had an opportunity to get some of those Japanese covers on a trip but ultimately decided against it (in addition to some lazy-ness)
Now, if this thread was full of people left and right having radiator punctures I'd feel differently, but it's mostly people being (rightfully) overly concerned about their new cars. Fingers crossed! |

Finally got the car cleaned up yesterday and tackled the Zunsport install. The brake ducts were the toughest imo. The trick I discovered that worked for me was to clip the short arm on the outside in first and not really even try to push the grill itself to make the long arm reach, but use your tool to push the long arm itself. There is no way to push the grill enough to just clip it. If that makes sense.
Anyway, I grabbed a few photos this morning of the clean car with the Zunsports installed. I don't even know if these are the best of what I got, but a few decent shots. I'm very pleased with how it looks. I was worried it might not look all that great, but necessary. They actually look pretty good imo. |

I was set to be a trial to make sure it worked. They were offering a 50% off deal, but somebody else did the trial first. So, they confirmed it to work. They won't be making a grill for the ACC equipped cars. This one is it. |
