Don’t @ me, but if the new m2 comes in an x-drive … I will be selling my M2C for it 100%.

As a G80 owner, the G87 is ok except the rear bumper. I can't get passed it. You can legit tailgate from it. A black color hides it.

The weight and the longer wheelbase is holding me back the most for buying one. The looks are not the best but i can swallow that one.

For a new BMW the Z4 has for me the best wheelbase.

The longer the wheelbase the less agility add weight to it to make it even worse.

Some of us want a rear seat. The Supra and Z4 don't have one. The G87 has a useable one (headroom might be a challenge for longer trips).

Just got back from my dealer who had a ZB with black wheels. I was expecting to not like it and to cancel my order based on all the hate and my own thoughts on how it looks in pictures.

In person though, it is a sharp looking car. I couldn’t get in a position that made me feel like the car looks derpy like it does in photos. I almost “caved” and bought it. Maybe if it makes it through the weekend…

100% agree. If you don’t absolutely LOVE a car the first time you lay eyes on it, then pass. You’ll likely never be happy with it or live in regret. Why continue to justify this or that when it simply just doesn’t look good! The previous generation -based soley on looks- was the pinnacle for the designers for the 2 series. Personally, the new one isn’t that bad in my opinion, but the previous year is 100% better looking.

That is what I was trying to say - sorry poorly written.

When you see the car in person it is simply a great looking car - you take it in and don't obsess about the little design elements/details that people try to pick apart here based on pictures.

When I saw/drove the car, honestly I forgot to look at the details - didn't even occur to me. This car has really good presence.

I did wish it was offered in darker greys though - like Dravit or at least Skyscraper grey.

There is a solution for that. It is called M3, M4, M5, M3 Touring.

I'm assuming you're talking about after seeing it in the flesh. There are cars that I haven't absolutely loved after a first impression from a photo or video but after seeing them in person I did. I find that if I absolutely HATE a car the first time I see it (G80, G82, Mk V Supra, etc.) then I'm very unlikely to warm up to it, but it doesn't always have to be 100% love at first sight.

I am sorry that I cannot afford any of those. Even M2 is stretching it for me.

However, money aside, the only personal conceivable option would be the M3 Touring. I could live with the design choices I do not love (front grills and side gills) for it being a Euro wagon. I am a sucker for Euro wagons. Sadly, it is not available in North America.

This was me with my M4. I thought it was a nice, but complex design. I had an emotional attraction to my F82 M4, but the G82 was more cerebral. In the end while its not a bad looking car I wasn't in love with it and thankfully sold it for more than I paid for it after a year of ownership. I never really grew to like it any more than I did when I first got it. Didn't hate it, didn't love it.

I've owned 3 F87's and now I own a G87.. I absolutely could not go back to the OG or the Comp after experiencing this car. The tech, driving feel, interior, aggressive exterior humps.. no way back. Only way I'd get back into an F87 is if I was doing a full track build on the N55.

Nobody is forcing you to buy an “ugly” G8X. There are other four door cars you can spend your money on. It shouldn’t be a tough pill to swallow at all considering you’re making the choice to spend your hard-earned money on the car. Go buy an F80…..or an Audi…..or a Blackwing….or…?!?

...and here are 21 AWD sedans you could spend your money on instead of the G8X.

The F87CS is still the better value. especially when you factor its price stability. 3 years later they are still selling at msrp or above. This wont happen with the current base G87. it will depreciate just like the current m3 and m4. especially once the comp and cs models arrive.
Why do we need to see lap times? The M2 has exactly the same chassis and tires as the G82 and HP is within 4% (if you believe BMW, or 0% if you believe IND's dyno). Lap times will be within margin of error of the non-comp G82.

Regardless of lap times the M2 is 2 generations ahead in interior/electronics and one generation ahead (S58 vs S55) in engine.

It is a much better/modern car with similar performance but more potential for a much lower price.

Does not take a genius to see that M2CS prices will have to come down when the G87 becomes available in the "buy it now" market.

I never said I was “forced”. I basically said I’m making compromises like we all do in life 🤷‍♂️

There is no other 4 door car that checks all MY boxes.

Audi - bland driving experience
Cadillac - I’m not a 75 y/o geriatric PT
F80 - I’ve been driving F82s for 7 years
Alfa - No need to go any further
BMW M5 - See # 2

I dunno. I would definitely not get the Blackwing because See #2, but if I was going to get a sedan I'd consider the M5 assuming it was in my price range.

Listen, the sides and the rear are nearly perfect. And people are going to say - get an Audi etc, but I understand why you went BMW.

Sorry this was a huge tangent into g80 world, back to G87…

Not too bad looking, but the one I built for how I'd get it is $127,000 which is considerably more than an M3.

I’m just joking/poking fun at the older demographic. The M5 is $30k more then my incoming M3 which is pretty significant. I know a bunch of you guys jumped to Porsche but I need a do it all car and the 911 isn’t gonna cut it. I’ll get shit for this but the Macan and Cayenne don’t really exist for me. Way to Soccer mom for my taste.
