I did pretty good! I closed all my positions before election and bought back in after. Up 33% for whole portfolio since then. Thanks to EVs and Tesla Ofcourse

I asked the experts on this board in June if I should sell my Tesla, and they said yes!

Same “experts” were probably saying Tesla is trash when it was at $10 a share years back

My 401(k) is up about 20% since election day. My brokerage account, not so much...but still positive for the same period.

On the bright side, my "net financial assets" went from below zero to +$46K since 11/2019. With only $48K left on our mortgage, I am on target to be 100% debt-free by the end of 2024.....

$50,000 on Black at the casino. About the same odds if you are going to do a single stock bet like above. Only you have a 100% return if you get it right.

Can you guys point me to a a couple stocks as I am very new to this. I'm NOT looking at 50k. I am just gonna put 1k in and add funds over time. Any stocks you would pick up right now. I know its not a lot but as I said I'm a newbie at this and not gonna risk a ton of money right now. I'm ok with long term waiting on hoping a stock grows or even some lower priced ones that may have hopes. Thanks guys.

Yup. It seems the most common investment advice for newbies is to buy an index fund that mirrors the S&P 500.....

SPYG is lame, go VGT instead...if you're gonna be invested in those top ~10 holdings anyway, go full boat to maximize the gains:

Do you have a choice at managers for your 457B - 1% is too high. That will cost you over $100K by the time you retire.

Pensions are solid. Rare these days but it's worth more than most people think.

Way too high in crypto (IMO). Even if it's fun money investing I'd cut back and invest in larger tech.

thanks for the input - I do hate the fee. Adds up fast. My 457 options are 1% to have them manage it or I do it myself for free. I'm really going to consider doing that. I initially figured that they would do a 1% per year better job than I could although my return for the past year has been roughly 7%. In this market 7% is absolutely unacceptable. Luckily my crypto is just shy of 350% now Of course I could lose all that by dinner

I'm up $55K since March, primarily trading and cost averaging on AAPL, VTI and VOO. I'm not a trader/risk taker so I take small gains and selling, a small profit here and there has added up. I'm all in right now, so will have to cost average down with margin from this point forward, looking to take some principal out by EOY, however.

I'm up $188k since Mar doing absolutely nothing. I do know a guy who is up $3M on TSLA and AMD.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you fairly well aged?

I imagine the later in life you are, the more you've accumulated, the more you have invested, the higher the gains you'll see during market upswings, etc.
