Rolex has always been my favorite brand of watch, I currently own a Submariner 14060M and a Vintage Datejust 1601. When funds allow I'll go for a Deep Sea.

In the past I've owned a Gucci and a Omega Sea Master (007).

Next to cars, watches are my number two in life, the wife and family come a close third!.......lol

Figured I'd share mine, about a year ago my boss rewarded me with a Rolex for 3 years of hard work and dedication. (an entry-level one) nothing near what some of you have, but very much appreciated.

That was a motivator, generous boss but no doubt you earned it! I don't see Rolex doing "entry level", if you own a Rolex it's a sign of quality & workmanship, whether it costs £4000 or £14000.

Some of the more expensive ones look terrible, like cheap Chinese copies, yours looks very smart...

Entry or not it really doesn't matter. There's little difference between yours and a DJ, Sub, Explorer or Milgauss. Even the Day Dates aren't that different other than that they show a day along with the date and that's a just a very minor complication, so minor it's not really considered one.

I know a lot of folks in the "watch world" like to "dog" Rolex, but I'm not one of those people. Rolex make very well constructed watches and super hardy watch movements. They aren't anything to look at like the movements of fancier watches, but they will put up with a hell of a lot harder use than many of those fancier ones.

I think the fact that they are so durable is why folks don't mind spending tidy sums on them. Their ubiquity and simplicity are also pluses as they make getting them serviced super easy, fast and convenient.

Little will tick me off faster than a pricey watch that stops working or someone telling me it'll be months before they can get my watch back to me when I have to send it for service. When they tell me it'll cost me $1500, I'm not too keen on that either.

All the best and enjoy your watch.

I agree with you Tony. Although mine was serviced last year, 8 weeks away, £450 for the service plus other bits....
I have a GMT Master Pepsi dial, and I like its quality, one watch for life, go anywhere attitude, with some of the more bling movements you see around that may not go the distance being used every day come rain, shine, or mountain climbing!

Good to see fellow BMW enthusiast sharing same taste in watches.

I'm wearing an anniversary green Sub today though.
I tend to collect Rolexes in green.. =D

I love my Submariner. It's my only nice watch. I considered a green Milgauss, but the polished case I'm sure I would have scratched so I passed on it.

I had a special limited Panerai with Zenith movement, but I didn't wear it much for fear of scratching it, so I just wore my Sub. Sold the Panerai, and will probably get a vintage Sub of my birthyear as my next Rolex.

Same here.... I inherited my Rolex favouritism from my late father, and inherited his Datejust 16013 as well.

Here's my daily wear, last of the line random serial, 2010 made, 16610 Sub with my inherited 1986 16013 Datejust, which has enormous sentimental attachment, and I wear as an evening dress watch.

Do you think that his Kermit is a fake? It looks legit to me.

Question for you watch experts. I have a 9 years old Rolex and it keeps going 2 minutes faster everyday. Should a simple service fix it good? Should I get it serviced through a local jeweler, whom will ship it to the Rolex service center in LA I think, or should I ship it directly to Rolex? I have not done this before so I am looking for advice. How much should it cost? Thanks.

Yes it is.

Compare it with post #275 and you will notice:

-wrong font on rehaut
-letters should align with minute ticks on rehaut
-blotchy words printed on the dial
-bezel font numbers off (look at the 10 compared to post 275)

After selling my datejust a year back I finally picked up this new Rolex GMT Master II. It will hold me for now until I save up for an AP.
