So is it just something the three of them are doing, or is the BBC still involved? I thought it was a BBC operated venture, so I found it weird that they pulled the Top Gear name, the Stig, and all BBC intellectual property. Makes me think they basically pulled their share of the profit and walked.
"A BBC Worldwide spokesman said: 'So as not to disappoint the thousands of people around the world who have already purchased tickets, BBC Worldwide has agreed with our joint venture partner Brand Events that the remainder of the tour can continue."

Some of the dates have already had to be rescheduled and tour organisers believe it may not even make a profit by the time those costs have been taken into account."

Yeah it's not making any more sense to me. Guess my head isn't far enough up my own ass.

I'm right there with you. The BBC made the wrong call.

Interesting! The first show of the trio without BBC branding could almost viewed as the pilot test of a new series. So what I did not see/missed was who is going to carry broadcast the show if it will be broadcast. Viewership will be up if they do - I would suspect...

I've said it a few times already, but I desperately hope Netflix is talking to the trio to workout a deal for a new car show.

They're mad if they aren't.

They should call it "Overdrive Gear Live" and have a helmeted driver called "the Gimp". Or something like that.

Agreed, short of having the money in your hand you can't get any closer to guaranteed global success and a huge loyal audience than to hire these three to make a car show. Clarkson obviously misbehaved and needed to be reprimanded and come back down to earth but it could have been done in so many ways other than fire him. I hope they get a new show elsewhere and enjoy great success and stick it in the face of BBC.

Jeremy Clarkson is planning his TV comeback.

In an article from The Mirror, Clarkson reveals he was told he "probably" had cancer two days prior to the "fracas" that cost him his job. He has since been medically cleared.

"I have lost my baby but I shall create another one."

I think Clarkson has enough influence to bring May and Hammond to whatever new show he makes, forcing the BBC to find all new presenters. Maybe not right away, but I can see it happening.

As much as I like Chris Harris, he does not come close to Jeremy. Harris is very good at what he does, which is 10 or so minute reviews on YouTube. Have you seen any of the Drive specials on TV? They are not that enjoyable to watch. I think Harris should stay exactly where he is.

Top Gear isn't just a car review show. Chris Harris is very good at reviewing cars, but that is it. Jeremy was wonderful interacting with celebs, big name celebs. Replacing Jeremy will need to be done by someone who isn't limited to reviewing cars. It will need to be a tv personality.

Plus May and Hammond will follow Clarkson. Top Gear will never be the same, it will eventually be another Fifth Gear. Ratings will plummet if they decide to carry on the brand.

Exactly

Guy Martin is capable of handling it, some decent programmes to date and at least he understands engineering..

Clarkson brought his personality to the show, and it meshed well with May and Hammond.

No doubt it'll be a completely different show, but will it be better? Only time will tell.

I'd like to see Sabine Schmitz on the show. Some say she has been for a long time...

You need someone who can interact and mesh well with the other hosts, a personality who doesn't overshadow the other hosts but rather compliments them.

You also need someone who can not just review cars, but make them funny and relate to people who don't give a shit about cars. Not a simple thing to do by any stretch of the imagination.

The rumour that BBC considered Stephen Fry for a host got me confused. I like the guy, he's smart and funny. He's got all the right experience for the position of a host
But to me that seems like the stupidest choice for Top Gear. Why would they even consider him?

Them going to netflix has its up sides and down sides.
They can easily chuck a load of money at and it would help them in there battle with amazon prime, but viewership would be limited to those that have netflix.
