Look on the bright side....you will have a Tuesday-built car, instead of a Friday-built one.

This also gives a good sense of the timing from Altamira to NYC, which is 10 days. But add in Veracruz and somewhere between 2-3 weeks to port + transport to dealer. Does that sound right? Last edited by mtoo; 10-06-2023 at 08:21 PM.. |

I guess mine is supposed to be on that boat too. Well, haven't gotten a chance to call BMW or my CA to verify. Somehow it is exciting while feeling not ready for my G87.
So many decisions I will have to make! how much PPF? Winter wheels? Trading in my current ride or keeping? I should see a shrink. |

Ok, doing some heavy analysis for build week 39's and later...
xiven identified Frontier Ace as a Vehicle Carrier ship in port now at Vercruz https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9209271 I pulled up some recent port data for Frontier Ace, and it goes as follows: Port Arrival Departure Vercruz 10/6/2023 New York 9/26/2023 9/27/2023 Brunswick 9/23/2023 9/24/2023 Jacksonville 9/21/2023 9/22/2023 Altamira 9/16/2023 9/17/2023 Altamira Anch. 9/9/2023 9/16/2023 ? 9/6/2023 9/8/2023 Baltimore 8/17/2023 8/21/2023 Altamira 8/8/2023 8/9/2023 Vercruz 8/2/2023 8/3/2023 Baltimore 7/22/2023 7/23/2023 New York 7/20/2023 7/21/2023 And if I plug that into ChatGPT, it predicts the ship will then go to... 1. Altamira 2. [Unknown port] 3. Jacksonville 4. Brunswick 5. New York I'm not sure what the deal is with the unknown port, but I'm guessing Altamira Anch. means it was anchored during that time. So there you go. Science. You be the judge if any of our cars end up on that ship. |

Hey another perk of being at status 165 (or higher) is that you can now download the M2 specific driver’s guide, manual and videos on the myBMW app. (Before 165 it gives you an error)
You can get everything ready in the app to pair to your car at delivery day, + explore the content. It also personalizes the car to your options. Another pre-delivery drug from BMW. 😎

I wonder how long it takes and how good a job they do. One member found most of his bolts cross threaded after the HAS port install.

Pretty sure Veracruz is the loading port. I haven't seen anything that says otherwise. |

I think what has had many confused (myself included) was the long delay with the My Garage page updating the status to In Transit. Not sure if all ships stop at Altamira after Veracruz but it makes sense that a shipping company would want a full load of vehicles before setting off to the east coast. My guess is that all BMWs built at SLP ship out of Veracruz but other brands use Altamira (BMW is not the only vehicle manufacturer in Mexico). So if our Bimmers are loaded at Veracruz and then the ship stops at Altamira the same day or the next day, it might appear that our cars are actually loading at Altamira due to the long delay with the My Garage page updating. A ship can reach Altamira from Veracruz in 1 day very easily and the My Garage app may not update for 1-4 days. In my case, it didn't update for 4 days and when it did update, my ship was still sitting at anchor at Altamira waiting for a berth.

Haha I know! I was gonna ask my PPF installer if they’d be willing to do it. If not, the install looks straight forward. Whatever that water solution they use is, hopefully takes care of any dust particles that get trapped underneath.

The SLP plant is pumping out ~3,000 cars/week. Between 1/3 and 1/2 come to the US. And prob 1/2 of those come to the East Coast. So that’s 500-750 per week that need to get on a boat.
These RoRo ships can carry 4,000 vehicles. Some of the larger ones 6,000. So BMW has to either batch them or share the ship. It would still be good to know which port they ship from.

I'll be happy if I get it before Thanksgiving, but I'm hoping for November 6, since that is when I return from an 10-day overseas trip.
