Anyone have the rocker panels done extending to the rear quarter panels/hips? Would like to see some pics of the lines from the rear quarter panel with the PPF. Trying to decide if I should just do a track pack with full front/pillars/roof/rockers plus the rear quarters (blue vs yellow lines)

I just had them do up to where the rocker panel meets the fender. It's unlikely something would hit up higher than that. My Z06 has 285/30/19 fronts and has rear brake vents about that high up on the rear quarters. I have no chips in that area fwiw.

IMO trapped moisture flattened out. It might resolve on its own but be sure to point out anything in that 2 week check up period.

From what I’ve learned with PPF- nothing is perfect. But they can come close.

Bubbles are normal, I have some tiny ones as well that the shop pointed out for me.

Can you possibly share where your seams are?

I have full PPF. No lines/seams. I recommend doing rear quarters as well, they get eaten up in this car from how wide the hips are.

Here's what I'm seeing on the front and rear bumpers. On closer look, some of them seem like the could be cleaner. Curious how this looks compared to the work on your BSM? Should I be complaining about these considering how much I paid and how long it took?

I found some examples of other people with XPEL on the G87 FB group and mine looks way better compared to theirs. I think I'm mostly unhappy with that messy gap in in between the grills but otherwise I think they did the best they could with the pre-cut PPF.

I've seen a few people have a fully seamless PPF with STEK that isn't pre-cut and that has got me a bit jealous. But another guy on the group who is a professional PPF installer said that without seams it will eventually fail as the PPF can only recess so much. Not sure if there is something special about STEK vs Xpel. I didn't realize PPF would be so damn stressful lol.

These close up photos are exactly what we need to see. If you show photos of ppf from 5ft away, you can't see anything.

So on first glance, it seems that the slits near the lights seem a little redundant. The only exception is the middle grill area. I have that as well, however that does seem a bit messy imo.

The rears shouldn’t have any seams or slits, at least mine doesn’t.

Totally up to you, but I’d voice it if possible. The grill area where it seems all seams lay, should be clean at least. I’ll send pics later today when I get my car back from service.

That pic #2 looks like a bit of a mess. I’ll see if I can get a good shot of my BSM.

Yeah I don't think it would be unreasonable to ask that they re-do that part as it doesn't look good at all.

Everywhere else, I'm not sure if the seams could be avoided like the one near the headlight. Looking at the XPEL site, it looks like those seams are inevitable.

Seems like STEK is the way to go if they have less seams.

Oh, forget it. When I look closer, I see mine isn’t really any better. I think if you get the magnifying glass out, they all might look a little wonky. Here’s mine.

Well that makes me feel a bit better lol.

Seems like the nature of the beast with the XPEL pre-cuts. Wish I had known otherwise I would have went with someone that does STEK.

Definitely seems like people have less seams and visible lines with STEK, but why?

I used Kavaca. I imagine the STEK guys have the seams too. I never really noticed mine in that spot until I went down to look and snap the pics for you.

Now my head is wrecked. Hahaha, JK.

I guess the moral of the story is to not look too closely.

Stepping back 5 feet and the it looks flawless which is what everyone else sees anyways

I think it’s something like this. The rockers I did myself look great from 5’ away. Somehow I can’t keep myself from getting on my knees with the magnifying glass and looking for every “issue”. Talk about a head wrecker.

That's poor install. I don't have any gaps around the grille. I'd have it re-done.

I agree... the seams are fine but big inconsistent gaps should be fixed. I'll be asking them to fix that for sure next Friday when I bring it by.

Hopefully they don't give me any pushback but if they do, I can show them your clean example.

I went with STEK, probably why no seams.

I did my rocker panel myself too. It wasn't difficult at all. There is a curved area that is a little tricky but othewise, it's simple. Make sure the rocker panel is 'CLEAN' or else you might see bit of dust afterward.
