Funny you mention that - I had my springs installed by an independent BMW shop as well. The guy said he'd have it in by 9am and aligned by 5pm. He had to keep it for an extra 4-5 hours, didn't get it until late the next day. Didn't mention anything about the install being more difficult but that tracks with what you're saying.

The Ferrari also felt very connected with the steering and tires on the road, and reminded of the feeling when I drove the GT3 RS. I was planning to drive a GT2 RS for 5 laps but my instructor talked me out as it is a harder car to drive fast for a novice driver. That allowed me to get in the AMG for 10 laps (since the GT2 was a higher price) and that's when I really got some confidence on the track and started to push.

The Pista and the GT3 RS are the best cars I have ever experienced.
Yeah, the GT3 RS you really have to beat it into your head not to lift off if you are understeering. Snaps the back end around quick.

I just finished my install. Struggled with the same nut. Used a box wrench and torqued it slowly. Took 15 mins to fully tighten it. Not too confident, I may check back later if the bolt unscrewed due to not enough torque.

Gives you full control of exhaust valves. Otherwise valve behavior is dependent on your engine/noise settings and honestly quite random.
Also, stock full open is not actually 100% open, and controller allows full opening.
He has the controls programmed to his garage buttons (Homelink). Otherwise you’d have to use dedicated little remote which is cumbersome.
There are several units out there, all do the same thing. I have Dahler.

Addressed front fender liner rubbing issue

So as I posted previously in another thread, with the 19x9.5"+5 VT Forged SL-As and 285/35s up front at stock ride height I was getting rubbing on the fender liner at not quite full lock which made very rude and embarrassing sounds. It was enough to break the plastic louvers on one side. The rubbing is confined to a small area near the outside of the liner and I considered doing a mod myself but did not have the bandwidth right now, so I got the very expensive RKP modified liners from IND.

The following photos show 1) & 2) the area of rubbing, 3) the new liners, 4) using a heat gun and dolly to bend the ridged area, 5) the wheel well with liner removed, and 6) new liner in place.

The result was successful, but there is still only about a millimeter clearance at that raised ridge area, but slight contact is not going to hurt anything. I am concerned that the open mesh of the new liner is going to let more debris through coming off the tire compared the the angled louvers.

sacowich explained the gist of it. The SST controller has four buttons to control the exhaust flaps- full open (100%), full closed, default (controlled by ECU) and 50% open.

I don't use my Homelink for my garage so I programmed open, closed and default to the buttons on the rearview mirror.

Just had this done yesterday, but I used $100 Ali vents which are essentially same idea.
Worked well.
Had bad rubbing with stock tire on Vorsteiner vff107 19x10 +11 with KW HAS.

Ahh gotcha, that is pretty cool. Thanks!

I think I'm going to buy the Ali ones too - question, are the screws that secure the Ali ones accessible without removing the liner from the car? If so it will make cleaning gravel and crap out of that area a lot easier. When I installed my DRL modules after only a couple weeks of owning the car, I couldn't believe how much debris had been blown in through the slats on the liner. Full of rocks and street junk.

Thanks. Same here, used a stubby box wrench. Was curious if someone else found a better solution...

Picked car up today after Rogue Short shift kit instal. Also had them delete the CDV.

Dramatic difference in shifter feel. Difficult to convey here, but crisp and notchy shifts with short throw and a faint click. Quite spectacular.

Regarding CDV, time will tell as I do more hooning. Definitely changed clutch disengagement which I can tell just from getting going in first. Definitely faster shifts at speed.

Time will tell how my MT and clutch will hold up to all this. Torque is at 530 ft-lb, well above what BMW had in mind for 6MT.

I just had them do it while the car was in. The fasteners are supposedly a one use item so they put new ones on as well. I was able to use the stock wear indicators. The tech is a huge car but and gave me a double thumbs up on iSweep pads.

Nice. What did they charge you for it? Motorwerks or Minnetonka?

Normally they charge 2 hours plus shop supplies. I got a deal plus had a $50 off so significantly less. Minnetonka did the work.
