No no NO, you ARENT getting it... those numbers must be off... there are NO guns here. Were some, freak boating accident... none left. Nothing we can do!

HOWEVER, if we were to find one, I believe AZ would certainly team up with Texas before Cali..... strictly hypothetical of course.

I get a giggle out of the news reporting the finding of an "arsenal" at somebody's house (usually in California) consisting of a handful of guns.

What the?? Here in my part of Tennessee, if word gets out you only have a handful of guns in your house the neighbors are liable to take up a collection for you. In my neck of the woods, you have to have at least a couple of deer rifles, a couple of shotguns, and a couple of AR-15s, and if you don't own at least one Colt 1911 you a commie and don't love America. Bonus points for doing your own reloading.

And if you think about it, the numbers are skewed so far downwards that it is scarcely believable because registration didn't really start until the last 25 or so years ago.

For instance, I heard that someone has a "friend" who has a friend, who has a fraternity brother that has over 120 of these items spread out over 2 compounds and 3 homes. It's just a rumor, though.

I'd say, particularly in the southern states, that the numbers are off by as much as 80%.

Immediately post-Katrina when it was highly likely that you might need to employ range-acquired and honed skills in situ, I was shooting about 500 rounds per week for practice and kept about 5-10k rounds in the house for emergencies. Mainly 9mm, 7.62 and .223. I told my around-the-corner neighbor, a fireman, to warn the squad that if my home ever caught fire, clear the area and enjoy the show.

My wife and I haven't been shooting for a while, all the ranges are closed and I don't know my new neighbours well enough to start shooting out back just yet. But I do like to keep some rounds on hand just in case. Lots of .22, my wife loves shooting her Henry Golden Girl. Lots of .38 & .357 for her revolver and Henry .357 carbine. 9mm is popular since I have a pistol and PC Carbine both in 9mm and sharing magazines. Lots of 12 gauge because why not.......223 & 5.56

I feel your pain. We practiced with crappy Russian ammo back then which was dirty as hell but was also cheap. A box in 2005-08 was only about 2 dollars and change. As long as you cleaned after firing it was ok.

Really nice lever actions, buttery smooth. My great grandfather had a Winchester 1894 .30-.30 that I loved, one of his hunting "buddies" managed to get it away from him when he was very old. I've always had a fondness for lever actions and my wife wanted the Golden Boy/Girl. The .357 is a great gun, not to heavy, great round with very little recoil so good for my wife too. I grabbed it for a great price lightly used from a gun shot I quite like and trust.
