That wasn't old though

Thankfully my shirt tails don't present an issue when "thinking"

My Mom had a pic of me when I was 3 or 4 sitting on one of those spring mounted horses wearing a sheriff's outfit and firing one of those cap pistols in the air. I was so glad when that pic got...er...misplaced.

Meant to post this; and you are so right. After hammering the roll, I too, sat there like, "now what?"

I did the thumbnail thing. Man, that hurt after a while.

Who played chicken with firecrackers? See who could hold it the longest before it exploded in your hand? I always won.

Was thinking of this. Early form of "blowing the wad." One strike and you're all done.

My cousin once bought enough firecrackers to be able to fill those small ®Vicks bottles to make a more explosive firecracker. After it was lit, it donned on us that the bottle was made of glass. Thankfully no one got hurt. Sure was loud though. Never played chicken with them. though. That would be crazy.

Lighting off M 80s was a regular thing around Fourth of July. I don't think you can even buy them anymore. When I was high school age I acquired a quarter stick of dynamite, at least that's what I was told. It was an aerial and boy was that thing loud.Glad to stlll have all on my fingers

You guys were lucky with the glass jar. That could've turned out bad.

I got some burns but nothing serious. Still have 10 fingers and they're all whole. lol

I think an M80 was 1/8 stick of dynamite?
Cherry bombs were even smaller.

We used to have fights with firecrackers inside a semi trailer. You'd light them and then throw them at each other. Every once in a while you'd get one with a REALLY quick fuse and it would go off in your hand. It's a wonder that we all still have all our fingers and most of our hearing. LOL

Did that but also bottle rocket fights. Had to hold with one hand, light with the other. We experimented with holding steady, tossing, darting etc. I got good enough to where one day I won by tossing the rocket to the ground half way between my cousin and I, it formed a perfect flight path of a “v” and SNAPPAHH right in his ass as he turned to run. Five of us hit the ground so damn hard we couldn’t continue. Good times.

Fond memories. Those were the good old days.

Happy July 4th, Independence Day, everyone!
