My dealer has 3 buyers waiting on M3 allocations. We're a top 5 volume dealer in the Midwest. All depends on the market.

Your theory makes a lot of sense but the resemblance of the grill in the camo shots to the leaked bumper is undeniable.

I think this could potentially be a strategy by BMW. i.e. leak dubious and controversial looking bumper and let the negative commentary begin. Then confirm the leak by revealing the grill on the camo car, so that when the car is actually revealed people are less shocked by the design as it looks much better and less controversial when viewed as an overall package.

Edit: Actually, @lemetier how would you explain the M2 logo on the grill?

Much more squared off, less angles / fangs. Could be a modern interpretation of the E30 / 36 era, which might be interesting, depending on how they execute it.

Still sad about the loss of the DCT - another gripe with the GXX cars - but nice to see that they're going to offer a manual, which is promising.

If they are going to go single headlight, I wish they'd just make that blue M2 concept car (forgetting the name at the moment) - that thing looks unbelievably good.

The M enthusiasts who don't like the new design language are trying to send a message to home base via a decentralized, uncoordinated, highly visible negative feedback campaign and are concerned that good sales numbers will validate BMW/Dukec's decisions.

Meanwhile, I've got a dashcam memory card with countless kudos from other drivers/pedestrians. The general sentiment around the design of my G82 concerns me only to the extent that it impacts depreciation; otherwise, I don't care, and certainly not enough to waste time convincing someone of something so subjective and instinctual.

Besides, the car drives so well, I don't think it'll ever lose value quite as fast as some may hope (yes, "hope" - some of you want the data to be bad so BMW can 'go back to normal,' which is at least a somewhat rational thought process). The Nissan GTR was once universally panned for its looks, too; now, it's one of the very slowest depreciating cars on the market.

That wouldn't surprise me, actually - they're already doing it with the M3/4 (MT for Base model only).

Although, I am guessing the M2 will keep the MT option the longest, and on the most models, as compared to the 3er and 4er.

I still have yet to experience that. My Porsche experience has been limited to that which one can achieve on a test drive at legal speeds (…although on one test drive in a used Carrera, I did lay down two dark strips of rubber on a vacant street; I was egged-on by the Porsche S/A ). I want that canyon experience in a Carrera.
