Just received email from the CA. Car has been released to carrier and waiting for a truck to pick it up. CA offered to send pics when the car arrives at the dealer.
Oh, just got another email in response to my asking when I could come up and complete the purchase. The CA said the car will of course have to arrive at the dealer and be on the ground at the dealership. He can't know when that will happen as sometimes a car can remain at the VPC (?) for some time until it is actually loaded on a truck. |

I emailed the trucking company last night the with the VIN and they replied "Our system does not currently show record of this vehicle." At 0930.
Oh well it'll get here eventually.

Yeah, its not a given they always have a truck available to deliver cars to the dealerships (especially now with the issues with trucking companies and their drivers). It can sometimes be days till it gets on a truck. |

Sometimes a car off the assembly line is treated to a road test -- with other brands the road test is done on a track next to the factory -- and can accumulate some miles. Just viewed the plant using Maps and the satellite view. I see no signs of any test track near the plant. Plug this into Maps: san luis potosi bmw plant I was assured -- 'course will have to wait to find out -- but I was assured with these HEA cars the dealer (well, my dealer) that no test drives are allowed. Not even test rides, cause I asked for one. But the dealer has no control over the vehicle until it arrives at its facility. |

Honestly would consider backing out of my order if mine showed up with any more than 20 miles on it but I'm petty. No excuses for 70 miles, where tf did they even drive it between being held at the port and getting onto a carrier....? The point of a new car is that it is....new

I grant you SLP has one. You are just looking at an old satellite image. Plant Spartanburg has a test track. See photo. Edit, added another satellite image. Last edited by T_U_D; 04-07-2023 at 11:26 AM.. |

Too bad you can't run a DME report like Porsche. That would tell you a lot of info of how long the car was driven and if they hit the Rev Limiter. For current owners ask your CA to take a picture of your odometer once it hits the dealer. You don't want anybody joyriding.

He told me the cars were at a track day and he was taking them to a shop that specializes in "refurbishing" such cars. He told me the cars will get new brake hardware and new tires and an oil/filter service. I can't recall if there were other fluid services like brake fluid or transmission/diff fluid services done. |

Rough estimate is the BMW track is 1/2 mile long, call it a mile per "lap". That's 70 laps. Seems a bit far fetched to believe a random new car off the line QA requires 70 circuits of that test track. |
