Interesting. Hope that's the case. Would love to get this all taken care of tomorrow.

Why would it be controversial? I'd personally just add a black M240i badge, and go CF wing (non OEM/smaller version) basically my setup I have planned

You not what people can be like...

a Buddy that has a 2022 M240i, did make a good point of saying that it would only be controversial if I left the M2 part of the badge on there, haha.

Agreed, faking an M2 is beyond suspect, that's German ricer.

what I am missing here? The owner took the badges off to give it a cleaner look.

and any real car person would see the skinny tires and know its no M2.

I wonder if the cars sit in QC or final assembly until they have a boat on the way, and then they do the once over in a big batch before loading ‘em up. There’s a lot of inconsistency between how long folks sit in QC/FA before reaching ready for transport. Could be related to when the next ship is scheduled to pick them up.

Relatedly, does anyone know how often they send a loaded ship out of the Mexican port to each coast? Monthly?
This is what I've been trying to figure out. I believe it's monthly but I also think it just depends on the volume. If they have enough cars to fill a boat, it could potentially be more frequently but the majority of the evidence I've seen from this board is that it's one ship a month. But my research has not always led me to the correct answer as of late. Ha.

And I also would like to know if they load on the west coast of Mexico to deliver to Oxnard. Or do they all depart Veracruz...meaning mine would be on a ship that would have to go through the Panama Canal, then back up to Cali? Genius thought (couldn't confirm oddly enough) it was the latter, but that would seem less logical than freighting them to a port (Manzanillo?) in Western Mexico.

EDIT: According to a BMW article, they transport to Oxnard via the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas in Western Mexico. Thank goodness, b/c traveling via the Panama Canal would've added at least a few more days.

Any other Western US folks on here? Seems like all of you getting cars right now are east of the Mississippi.

Oh no kidding. If you see a purple m240 when you pick up yours post some pics! I won’t be able to pick it up for about a week since I live several hours away and work is busy.

I'm considering doing the same to keep a clean look, but on the fence for the same reason.

When I had my Audi RS5 I kept the badges on and even with that people would ask what car is that? When I had my A4 and took the badges off, people just assumed I had an S4 and always wanted to race me. I may just keep the black badges on instead of going for the clean look, but I still bet a bunch of people will think it's an M2 because they just don't know any better and see "M2--"

I thought the same thing. I saw the post about rcc America being on the move and was disappointed to see it still at Baltimore, just in a different spot

Yeah, last night the status changed to Underway but I found this morning it's back to Moored. It's supposed to arrive at Newark tomorrow so we should see movement today.

I’m on the west coast (Seattle Area). Order has been on Final Assembly for a week now so I presume it’s just waiting for transport.

I’ve been in “ Ready to Transport “ for 2 weeks now

Wondering if they wait until they have a full boat to ship

EDIT: Just talked to BMW Genius and they said my car is at the Mexican port waiting for the next ship. Can not provide a time line when the car will ship.

I was in it for 6 weeks. I think you are right, I think they wait until they're able to fill a ship that is headed to your port, or ports along the way, or until they have a ship to begin with for your area.
