I love the black on black combo. Your car looks amazing! My current car, 19' M240i, has that black on black combo. And my G87 on order (waiting for allocation) will be the same.

Yeah, quite unfortunate; first time this has happened to me! Maybe they don't make glass like the used to

Called my dealer, they are quoting just under $2500 - they also reportedly "don't work with insurance companies for glass" so it would be an out of pocket expense

I called Safelite and they reported they could order OEM glass - quote with them comes out to just over $1k - I have an appointment booked for next week

Can't say I'm thrilled about using them, but hopefully it works out okay.

I've never had a problem with Safelite. In fact, I wouldn't trust my BMW dealer with a windshield replacement. They couldn't handle wheel balancing.

I wouldn't worry about using Safelite over a dealer. My experience with dealer replaced glass is that they simply call one of these companies to do the install on site anyway. Glass work is a specialized task that most dealers have little to no experience with anyway.

I expect that Safelite will do a good job and the savings is just avoiding a dealer surcharge for calling another company along with their liability overhead of having the car onsite.

Ouch. Keep us posted. I didn't option the HUD on my car, curious how much cheaper that would mean for me. Colorado is the land of rock chips.

Horrendous advice IMHO. Safelite employs more butchers than Krogers. Sure, a few techs are competent and give a shit, but many are absolutely awful. Never again will they be allowed near any car I own.

This is why I insure my cars with Chubb. I pay more, but glass is fully covered, and they will allow the dealer to install OEM glass (though some dealers outsource to local glass installers). When you have a problem, the last thing you need to do is fight with your insurance company. I couldn't be happier with them over the past 20+ years.

There should be a lawsuit against BMW for these windshields. In the last 3-4 years I’ve seen an absurd amount of cracked windshields. I bet they cheaped out and changed manufacturers.

I have had the same with Audi as has my friend. I dont think its a cheap windshield, I think its more carelessness of trucks on the road and with more construction, more crap in general to be kicked up off the roadways. A recipe for windshield disaster.

In Florida, your insurance (as long as you have comprehensive) covers it with no deductible and without it being a claim.

Brought the beast to Supersprint, one of the most iconic and best Italian exhaust manufacturers

Since I don’t wanna touch the electronic part (as of now) I’ll go with an OPF- back solution.

- Center X-Pipe (Resonator delete)
- Valved Axle Back

Sound clips will follow

Is there actually a windshield that’s 5x more expensive just because of the HUD? Do you happen to know the part number for the non-HUD windshield? Because I don’t have the HUD. Lol.

New wheels installed today.

Vorsteiner VF103 in 19x10 +11 and 20x10 +11 w/12mm spacer. Using stock tires.

Probably going to remove the Heritage center caps and run the Vorsteiner caps as I think these clash with the wheels.

Really wanted TE37s in a bronze or gray, but for the price, these are just fine. less than $2k shipped, mounted, and balanced. Might explore a different set up later on, these will do for now!

PPF and ceramic coat completed yesterday. Then set out on some country roads and covered the entire front in bugs. The bulldog front is a bug magnet for sure. (pic is before said bugs)
