I told them I would collect on 1st December to maximise the first months road tax. After all it's £1420 for first year. They said it had to go before end of November, but they can extend first months tax to 1 month and 1 week and 5 day drive away insurance, so I don't lose out so at least that's something.

That's the same arrangement I've got with my dealer. They got a confirmation of a Monday delivery, the car will be registered then taxed for 1 year + 1 week, and I'm picking up on Friday. At least I get to play around with the 840i for a few days.

According to dealer it's a transport issue. Wouldn't be surprised if the cars already there and the more profitable deals go out first!

However I've been told they have to have it out of their garage by end of month due to BMW protocol. Cars have to be delivered within same month as delivery. I reckon it's more about bonus cheques for Xmas and getting sales figures up for November.

My dealer advised me many months ago that it was a 10day rule in that BMW insist that all cars are delivered to customers no more than 10 days after arrival at dealers premises. There might be some truth in it if other dealers are saying similar?

Just found this thread a little later than the main order-status one.

I was a week 49 (5/12/22) build, went to 195 (at sea) on 16th December. I *think* I'm on the Donington, which arrives into the port at Southampton tonight.

I'm Scotland based, so hoping it's going to be no more than a couple weeks for delivery - does that seem about right for port-->hand-over?

Have you had confirmation that yours was offloaded at Southampton? My dealer rep is adamant that they are all still going to Germany first even if the ship calls at Southampton en-route there but as we know dealers are not infallible when it comes to intel. However I note the Donnington is now heading for Bremerhaven.

There must be a point with production levels getting back to something like normal where the volume of vehicles from the Mexico and South Carolina plants bound for the UK is such that coming direct and not doing the Germany detour makes logistical sense. It would be nice to have confirmation as to whether that point has been reached.

Sadly, after a bit of a look around and some advice from others on this forum & BMW Genius, turns out I got the ship wrong! I (and many others) are on the Horizon Highway headed to Bremeherhaven just now. ETA in Germany is AM of 13th Jan. I suspect another day or two to Southampton.

BMW Genius are advising me that delivery should be week commencing 23rd January. So I guess only a couple extra weeks to go…

What was your production date?
Mine was week 39 and it is still in Mexico.

Thanks. Tbh that makes sense as my dealer bloke seems to be one of the better ones in respect of knowing what he's talking about. I still think there must be a tipping point where setting up a facility in Southampton to do whatever they do in Germany will make sense but we're clearly not there yet.

FYI, and without wishing to rain on your parade any further, my dealer bloke told me last week that vehicles are typically taking 7 - 10 days to get to them after landing at Southampton. In November he reckoned it was 9 - 13 days so it is getting slightly better. I guess that might vary between different dealer groups but it might be worth preparing yourself for that kind of delay and if you get it sooner then great.

Yes I saw that at the time and it begs the question as to why that has now stopped or is only happening intermittently?

In my case I've got a three month and two week gap between the production slot and expected delivery, and whilst I understand that those dates can, and probably will, move all over the place, that is frankly ridiculous. My dealer said he is getting a lot of stick from customers over this, that he's had no G20 LCI or G42 come direct and the detour via Germany is probably adding 2 to 3 weeks at least. If they could do it direct in November then why not now?

I'm in Poland. So the car should be delivered by boat to Bremerhaven. I thought it is usually the same boat going to Bremerhaven and Southampton.

At this point I'm pretty sure there is a Mexican using my car as a taxi somewhere in Tijuana. I will recive it in July with 68k miles, smell of tacos and a drunk teenager in the trunk. Most likely the dealer will give a free air freshener to recompensate blood stains on the back seat.

That's odd, not seen anything else to suggest that this is the case. There was a production stop back in Sep 22 (I think it was) but that's all I've been aware of.
