Not every 'leak' is a Kim Kardashian style on purpose 'leak'.

This was probably some dude in a ketchup stained tshirt secretly mashing the camera shutter button on his phone while it was by his side.

From Nico DeMattia at bmwblog:

"During BT’s interview, van Meel said “the M2 will be the last M with a pure combustion engine drive and also without electrification scope such as a 48-volt on-board network, yes.”

That seems to mean that the next-gen BMW M2 won’t get even get 48-volt mild hybrid technology, which will likely make its way to every other future M car. The first electrified BMW M car will be the next-gen BMW M5, which will be a plug-in hybrid, and an all-electric BMW M3 is likely to follow, with some SUVs sprinkled into the mix."

I'm going to diverge from the rest of the F87 pack and say that I think I'm optimistic about this design. I actually really like the front of the car, single headlight and all. I think people forget the second light in the current gen M2 is faker than a toupe with a chin strap.

I suspect my F8x membership card is being shredded as I type.

Hey now - that’s me.

And this thing is comically ugly. The F87 M comp is the best looking BMW in ages, this is just an ugly amalgamation of hard angular lines, and boxiness. It looks just terrible.

BMW doesn’t build good cars - buy a GT86 or a Porsche, this car will be trash.

I'm with you but it's the fact that i bought the M2C based on it's looks (i knew about the technical bits). Small, coupe and powerful and didn't GROW ON ME. I will give this a chance and if it's attractive then I'll likely be getting it and if not, I'll just keep mine.
For now, it's an ass pic and bits and bobs. I want to see it all in it's glory then i'll decide.

Just saw the G87 M2 at IMS. No pics allowed of course. Looks just like the leak pic. Zandvoort blue. The only one in existence, or at least being circulated according to the BMW rep. Front & rear match the leaked white bumper pics posted earlier in this thread. Other details:

- Manual transmission
- Carbon Fiber Roof
- ID8 with large curved screen
- Floating rear caliper
- Carbon bucket seats
- 19"F/20"R wheels. 285/30 rear tires. Don't remember the front.
- Hood looked standard
- trunk lid looked standard
- Same steering wheel as M3/M4
- Headlights looked similar to M240, maybe different detailing?
- Taillights looked standard, same as M240?
- No black plastic on front fascia or side skirts. Only the small section on the rear diffuser you see in the leak pic.
- no frame or trim around kidney grill
- Rep had no details on power, weight, release date, etc.

God I can't believe I was this close to going to that! Punching air right now.

When you say standard hood, do you mean the same as the G42?

Wheels and tires are the same as the G80/2.

Front: 275/35 ZR 19
Rear: 285/30 ZR 20

When you say no black plastic on the front, do you mean the lower area too? The bumper pics show that as black, but maybe that's not the final product and it gets painted.

Thanks for the detail. So what was your personal opinion of the car? Instant attraction or take some time to get used to? Aggressive presence or somewhat understated?

Good question, we've always heard the bottom portion was black. I think it'd look better paint matched.

I'm not sure. Don't follow the 2 series closely. It looked the same or similar to the M240s they had at the autocross.

Sorry. To clarify, the "spokes/slats" in the lower center area were black. Also the small vertical black pieces in the rear. There's no black lip or lower splitter in the front.

For me personally a little disappointing, mostly the front. The lower rectangular side pieces protrude and feel very... basic, not well integrated with the rest of the car. Center area is not appealing. It feels like they tried to give it an aggressive(?) square/boxy feel. Headlights don't have the aggressive look of other dual beam M cars, M3/4/5/8 etc.

I was really excited to see it. Wanted to love it. Left a little disappointed. To be fair, it was in a small area so you couldn't stand very far back to look at it from all angles at distance. Other colors might also look better.

Disappointed to hear that.

Interior was black I assume ?

Did they give you guys plenty of time to look at it? Up close?

Yes, black interior.

Plenty of time. Couldn't touch or sit in it.

I asked the rep to open the hood. Unfortunately nothing special underneath, other than the S58 of course.

I left liking this (style) more. I'll need to see the G87 in more colors, from further away, etc. to really know for sure. It could grow on me.
