So the Underwater Recovery Team was in Nova Scotia on a training exercise with the Canadian Navy Fleet Diving Unit, USN Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) and the Royal Navy Fleet Diving Unit.

In my experience the best exchange of information during one of these course happens in the Mess or a bar after wards, often late in the evening.

We were on an Ice Diving course, and at the end of every day we'd tear down and clean our equipment. I was the youngest guy on the team at 39 on this particular course, all the Navy guys were in their 20's and full of piss and vinegar, well except for the brits. We started drinking beer in the barracks while we post dived the equipment and then we'd go drinking. We got back late from our information exchange session and were bunking in at the barracks we were assigned to. There were two guys on our team who's wives worried more than the rest of them, Chris' wife packed him food and treats, a nice gesture. Anyway, were all loaded up with "new knowledge" and in our racks, Chris and Angus (one of the funniest guys you've ever met) are the last ones tucking in and Chris has a tin of cookies his wife baked for him....I guess he's got the munchies and he says to Angus, "do you want a cookie", we're all a bit drunk and Angus thinks he says "do you want a quickie".....frankly that's what it sounded like.....I love Angus, one of my favourite people, so he responds "ah thanks for the offer but I'm happily married"......

You seriously needed to be there, 8 of us sharing a barracks room loaded and Chris asks Angus for a quickie.......I do miss the team environment.

You're not wrong, and that's the point. The Wright Flyer has elevators in the front and pusher propellers on the back. Whoever did the artwork oriented the plane with pulling propellers on front and the elevators on the rear.

There's a big dispute between Ohio and North Carolina over being the birthplace of aviation. Although the flight took place at Kitty Hawk NC, the Wrights' bicycle shop in Ohio is where the plane was constructed.....

Reminds me of a trip to Quebec in December. I believe the day was Dec 15th when you had to have winter tires. I had a rental car and had to drive from Trois Rivieres to Montreal when the first big storm hit. Being from Tennessee I had no skill or expertise and was lucky to make it. Still remember the huge plows parked every 10 miles or so to clear the snow. What I really remember though is the folks passing me like I was standing still in a blizzard. Must have thought I was an idiot. Probably was. 😁 Love Quebec though. Beautiful country.

. A couple of years ago I was in Montreal and I stopped at a red light and the person behind me started honking at me for stopping at a red light
