I mean sure but it's also inaccurate.
Yes you need the hubs to have the center lock but you also don't have to buy those wheels.
Also don't have to buy that hub. It's not $20k for wheels. It's $20k to run that specific combo

I still laugh at those that want center lock wheels. You literally need 1.5x the torque that the S58 of the G87 outputs just to tighten them. 3x the torque of the engine to break them free.

I am right there with you. Center lock wheels are so foolish for street cars. Good luck when you are in the middle of nowhere and end up with a flat. SOL.

Just hook it up to the engine with some gears. Problem solved

I'm actually looking forward to someone getting them and ending up on the front page.

"Owner gets towed to dealer to remove center lock wheel with flat tire, dealer can't get the wheel off either!"

Hell, they didn't always work properly in Nascar in their first year's use.

Was that not implied by mentioning both wheels and center locks?

That’s how I feel about the PIA thigh bolsters on the carbon bucket seats. Those bolsters have to be delt with by everyone, every single time they get in and out of the front seats. You know you’re going to have to be the tool that’s asking your guests to be careful they don’t wear the leather on the bolsters when they get in AND out. Dont think anyone wearing a tight/short skirt is going to enjoy getting in/out of those seats either. I would NEVER pick the carbon buckets for anything but a car with a strong track bias.

Conversely, most BMW owners never actually remove their own wheels; and unlike those seats, passengers will never experience any drawbacks from center lock wheels. I owned a GTS with center locks for almost 60k miles and it literally was never any issue at all. I’m not ever personally removing/installing the wheels.

How often are people personally removing their wheels over the lifetime of ownership?

The weight savings of the center lock system is the main attraction for me personally. Because I use public parking, the anti-theft aspect of them holds personal value too. I won’t risk putting expensive 5-lug wheels on my car, but I’ll drop five figures on these without question.

Guess it depends on each person. My current bimmer is my DD and I swap out the wheels twice a year for winter and summer. I plan on driving the G87 in the winter too. I would only take it out when it's dry and will be running sport winter tires on it. I hate the thought of having a nice car sitting unused for months. I've also had my fair share of flats and have always used a winter/summer tire (depending on season) as a spare until I get the flat repaired.

At least once per track day on the car that I predominantly take to the track (due to having different road and track tyres) - about once per week during the summer.

I've seen the struggle at the track to swap the 992 GT3 wheels that a couple of members of the track club I'm in go through, especially when swapping between slicks and road tyres that they may use as wets.

Thank you for this. It does change my feeling on the Cup 2s on these wheels.

I'll stick the Pilot Sport 4s as I will be using the car daily.
I still might get these wheels, but will see how I feel once I have the car.

I didn’t know the Jahre edition 826m wheels came in Orbit Grey, think they look pretty sweet.
