Unless you can't wait long you can put your deposit down for an M2c now, that way you're first in line for one. They'll accept it even though it's not official yet.

I know nothing is official yet, but are there rumors that there will be a comp model coming out before lci and that it will be offered in manual? Would suck to hold out for one and then be disappointed.

We won't know anytime soon. Why I'm not in any rush, want to see what the options are before pulling the trigger. I'm not interested in a CS or CSL, not because I wouldn't want one, but I know they will cost way more than I'm willing to shell out and they'll have hefty ADMs too.

Wouldn't make sense to drop a new sub model with the same options just a few months later. Personally I think they'll follow the G8X and do a comp auto but it'll happen at LCI.

All ynguldyn said was no Comp at launch. Mentioned once the Comp could be as late as LCI. No 100% info.

Besides more complaining about styling when G87 officially launches, get ready for some new criticism launched at standard seats and no Comp model available.

My hope is if interior options are what I'm wishful of, I
l will get a pure with 6MT as soon as individual colors are available. Hopefully the whole run will be ICE 6MT RWD which will last a few years.

My guess would be the M2 follows M4, Competition and CS (CSL) without 6MT

FFS we haven't seen the official release of the car yet, maybe be a little bit more measured instead of flipping the F out? There's plenty of time for everyone to gripe (and they will) once it's officially revealed.

Chill out!
Seriously. Oh the Humanity!

I get the passion and understand the sense of urgency as this will be the last hurrah for an ICE M.

Regardless, take a chill pill at least until 12 October. You can sharpen your spears and pitchforks if you want in the meantime.

I was aghast at the changes to the G42 at first, but once I saw it I began to understand what the designer was shooting for.

IMHO it's a hell of a lot more interesting than the handsome, but slab sided F22.

One thing is for sure already about the G87 and that is it's not going to be a virtual mini-me M4 like the F87 was.

This sausage will for sure be from an entirely different cut.

Yep. Just got done watching the Joe Achilles review at the Salzburgring and he said it will run rings around the M2C (go to the 9:45 mark). Hyperbole? Maybe. But based on how much more improved the G8# suspension is better than the F8# it is more likely than not to be a decided step up.

I am already feeling a bit jello over you guys that are the lead off batters. Might have to make a road trip to Chicago and/or the Volunteer state next spring just to put the E82 and G87 side-by-side when at least two of you three guys get yours.

Yeah, that just sucks.

I'm pretty sure the 2021 M2C was the last BMW M model to receive the DCT.

i was disappointed when they brought in a DCT for the OG N55 M2. Should have been all manual like the 1M.

Yea, I agree but the automatic/DCT take rate is roughly 50% in the US, so BMW is not going to miss out on that potential market and I really don't blame them a one bit, even though I believe an automated-transmission is antithetical to a sporty, pocket-rocket-ish like vehicles.

In straight line acceleration yes, but in every other measure of performance the Lotus would be better, it's a purpose built sports car that's 250-300kg lighter than the G87.
You could buy the G87 over the Lotus for many reasons, performance wouldn't be one.

Yeah I guess—-they did sell a LOT of M2s so this time around they were looking to make some $$$.

And the rest of the world should be thankful the manual transmission is still popular in the US, without the take up rate there BMW would have discontinued the MT long ago
