Partially agreed. I feel that the front end of the G42 was better executed. The front is the only part of the G87 that I am not crazy about and I spent last week staring at one on the showroom floor.

I'm still waiting to see the M2 in person before I give out full judgment but I'm not in love with it based on the pictures

It definitely must be seen in person to fully appreciate. Note my edited post above.

I agree, the gap at the bottom of the front bumper is the worst design element of the car, and by far. When I saw it in person it looked about 10% less horrible though.

The fronts center is relatively flat and somewhat reminds me of the pre-LCI E36.

To a degree. Have you seen both parked next to each other? The G42’s front design flows better.

No, not yet. I have the G42 now, just waiting on my allocation (🤞 to get it in 7-10 days).

Sure but be careful cause many hereabouts will call it too "feminine"...

Any idea what the ballpark delivery time is after you get an allocation?

These days approx 6-8 weeks after production is completed. The next round of allocations will be for June production.

Edit, Approx 90-120+ days from receiving an allocation for U.S. residents.

I currently own a G42 and the main reason I went with BSM was to blend in all of the gloss black bits and because I didn’t like the way the triangular vents on the front bumper looked. I feel like they clash with the rest of the front.

Could be worse. I waited 262 (almost 9 months) days for my last one from allocation to delivery. It was sooo painful and BMW totally sucked with dealing with it.

I assume that’s with DCT. The rest of the dimensions are almost identical to the G87.

G87 listed curb weight: 3814lbs

The G87 is 165lbs heavier. I assume that is also for the automatic. That doesn’t strike me as an enormous difference - 4.5% to be exact. Hardly a fat pig by comparison for a car with far more technology

Here we have a rear wheel drive BMW M car with dimensions almost the same as the E92 M3. I think that is kind of amazing.
And I'm pretty sure it would feel lighter and it would react as if it's lighter than E92 M3.

G generation of crap they are putting out.
By what measure did they fail in design department?
Just curious.

I don’t believe a cars appearance should, “grow on you.” That’s just your mind trying to validate your purchase.

Never have I looked at a 911 and thought, it will grow on me.

People do this all the time with big commitments. But deep down, you know the truth. Hopefully there is some other redeeming factor(s). In this case, the off the chart performance does makes a compelling argument

996? Never grew on me. Some of us have liked the appearance of the G87 from the beginning while others hate it, and some reserve full judgment until seeing the car in person. Unless I just absolutely hate a car from photos then I try to give it a chance until I actually get to see it. I wouldn't personally buy a car if I wasn't happy with the appearance in hopes of it growing on me one day, but I don't think you have to be 100% in love with every single detail either.

This is my subjective opinion, but I feel the G87 with its width and square angles reminds me of the old group 5 racing cars and that makes up for a strong presence as a sports car. I cannot wait to see it in person but I think looks/design does not have to "grow into us".

I cannot tell the many times I have walked around, sit in, imagined myself daily driving a G82, and yet I look at the front and think "this is not for me". In the same way, if I am ever lucky enough to afford it, I will buy a Ferrari 458, no matter how old it is. What I am trying to say is, nobody knows better than you what you like or dislike, let us be mature and respectful here.

I am a millennial so tech and infotainment system really matter, on that this new generation is miles better. I am sure owners will really enjoy driving it daily!

It's funny how varying opinions can be. I respect what you're saying and technology at home is very important to me, in a sports car the less tech the better.

Guess I'm "old school"...
