Yes I forgot to mention this. This car was not driven for joyride. It came straight from Oxnard. So I would not worry if your car has some miles. Now we need some real test drive review. I will be at Thermal this summer so hopefully I can get some track time.

Idk man - I'm glad it wasn't 10 or I'd be extra worried haha

I think the older HEA units (production Nov/Dec '22) have likely been moved a lot and between lots of transportation facilities. Maybe they're doing about 20mi of testing too.

It is a new plant and new production line with newly trained M car workforce so I wouldn't be shocked that they're just doing extra diligence.

The S58 is a very good engine. Very few blown engines at the BMW Performance school. The windshield on G80/2 is another story. Lots of repair on those. I replaced mine at 2k miles

Went to my dealership to take a look at their HEA arrived today. I was surprised that the car is already in detail bay and my SA told me that means it will probably be picked up soon lol. They let me took a bunch of photos and even let me sit inside and fire it up. Will attach some pictures below and something’s I noticed:
1. Manual shifter is somehow very notchy. Completely different experience from last time I drove the G82. It has more resistance and less rubbery?? I’m not sure if it’s new car but it’s not really that far from my ND2 Miata’s shifter. (ND2’s more direct vs G87’s more resistance)
2. The shifter sits a bit higher and closer to driver side, probably due to shorter wheel base and smaller cabin set up. It makes the whole shifting position more ideal than bigger brothers’ G80/82.
3. At least for manual production ones, the direct front and side cooling have mesh protection, just the bottom ones (oil cooler?) completed naked.
4. From what I see in person, ZB is very close to the first two pictures I took. Somehow my other pictures felt washed away from auto adjustments but that’s not what I see in person. It looks really nice sitting in front of me and I really like it. I may change it from BG to this.
5. Tire is Michelin, so this guy got lucky and won the lottery. My dealership is located in Atlanta, GA just in case you figure out some pattern.

The shifter gets better after a couple thousand miles. That was not the case with the F87C. They reinforced the Flywheel on G8X cars.

My friend's car was delivered to their dealership which is less than 30 minutes from my dealership, and my car is still sitting in NJ.

Their car has Michelins.

I can't even buy the car today if I wanted to. The manager told me the earliest is tomorrow or next week.

I stopped by to see my CA today, he doesn't expect the HEA for up to 2 more weeks. He said his HEA and all of the ones he has seen so far are in New Jersey. We are in AZ. He says it makes no sense cuz all of the cars for his dealership usually come through Oxnard CA. It seems people on this side of the country might not be seeing an HEA for a little while.

To my subjective eyes, I agree. Looking forward to what the aftermarket brings, particularly with front lips. The M performance one is hideous, IMO.

But yeah, I will have to live that. I'm going to talk long and hard to them, and inspect the under carriage for any signs, etc.

I forgot to mention - the cars journalists drove in Arizona didn't reach break-in miles and they were bombing them.
Honestly, your confidence in the situation is inspiring. I would be slightly concerned that the extra miles had the chance of someone going beyond the suggested break in parameters, but I'd feel it out and use some of the logic that you have presented. It wouldn't be a deal breaker, but I'd poke around a lil.

I guess I'll be contrarian and say I think the science is settled that break in on modern cars is bunk. That BMW continues to make us follow this unneeded tradition harkens to days gone by.

That's the context to me not sweating those miles.

I'm in the market for a front lip, the mperf one is connected to the silly side winglets. I went ahead and added the cf package today and needed a few cf external bits to tie it all in, but all I could stomach were the inlets. I already had the rear wing (the raised one that looks like an e36 wing).

I actually think bsm is insanely good looking, the whole front just comes together so dang well, I just can't do a black car.

Yep not an issue - just wanted to see the combination of the two, regardless of the car.

Thanks mate, personally love the BSM. They look great with the jet blacks but Im getting them with the bi-colours so I don't get stopped by every Police car that I come across.

This the exact issue I warned about months ago with BSM.

A lot people kept saying they'd order it to "hide the body issues". Except, it actually accentuates them because it's a metallic color and is extra glossy (so it looks nice).

AW and ZB hide the lines more than anything else.
