Damn… It seems like there should be another step between ‘In Transit’ and ‘At Dealership.’
Didn’t realize it’d go back to 13. Gotcha.

Nope, I don't concur. Whilst the world is on a downturn, Germany is fine. Basically switching from cars to tanks due to a small dude with a complex in the east poking and a cheeto POTUS.

That being said, tarrifs "worked", my order is now 2 months early and set for production in April. It's been hours and orders from US already being canceled.

"fork over the added cost in protest."

That would only show the tarrifs work and the bully economic measures would skyrocket. A good solution would be what the EU does, incentives to build stuff locally and after it's up and running fight dumping prices only with tarrifs whilst keeping the competition up.
are you serious?

you havent seen gdp growth in 5 years, german car sales are tanking due to influx of chinese cars and plant closures are about to take place...

next update will be going back to step 13, in port, when it hits a US port.

Yep, and then back to In Transit when it’s on a truck headed to your dealer.

Mine is at the VPC now. Got there over the weekend. Genius and the dealership both get an estimated date of delivery to the dealer once the car hits the VPC. Mine is show as this Saturday, 3/8. However I’ve been told those estimated dates are often wrong. In my case I highly doubt my car will be at the dealer this weekend since it needs the MP HAS installed at the VPC.

So nobody in the information pipeline really has much of a clue at this point. My CA told me that the car will probably just show up before they even know it’s on a truck headed to them. I’m now down to refreshing the inventory section of my dealer’s website to see what shows up as “In Transit”. From what they’ve told me in the past, they don’t control those listings showing up, BMW puts them there. So I figure my car will probably show as “In Transit” in their inventory before they know it’s on the way.

There is no way BMW is taking a 25% hit. Sure they might honor some orders, but there is no way the business model works for BMW with 25%. They can't switch production on such short notice. For now, they will just increase shipments to Canada/EU/ROW or reduce production.

Just look at the positives. This tariff gives you a good custom license plate idea.

Yeah, don't remind me.

I think there's a lot of over reaction to this.

Does anyone know that they will increase pricing or is it just a guess?

Every BMW dealer owner I've spoken to doesn't expect an increase in the short term. MSRPs have not been changed on any incoming/ordered cars from everywhere I've seen.

I've got a scheduled build next week and price is already been signed off on. It could change, but if they do there's the option to walk away and buy a car already in the country.

All I hope is if there's anything BMW is planning, they communicate soon but if nothing changes in the next week I doubt it will in a month/two until the 2026 model year.

I do think if the tariff stays we've seen the end of this generation 2-3 series in the US. I'd bet the next 3 Series would then be built in South Carolina.

The real failure is the complete neglect of the US to equip its population to enter a globalized, post-industrial economy. As usual, the middle class will pay for these failures.

Not sure what you mean by this, but the US economy is already over 76% based on the service industry (e.g.: technology), only about 17% manufacturing and less than 1% agriculture.

Developed countries typically gravitate towards the service industry.

Yup, I agree 100%. The issue to me (having spent half my life in the deep-south and the other half in the rust belt before leaving) is that people from what used to be these strong manufacturing regions were never given the skills or opportunities to move into high-paying service-sector roles. There is always an element of self-determination at play here but you also cannot let entire communities decline while telling them to ‘adapt.’ Luckily I made it out but the VAST majority of my friends did not.

No, I suggest those that are buying this car as a.luxury item like I am to purchase nothing and not put money into the economy as protest. Paying the tariffs just makes him think he's right.[/QUOTE]

Every day I drive my pop pop sled I die a little inside so I have to buy the M2

I'm sure this isn't a good sign but the in-transit listing for my order on my dealers website has been removed. Been "ready for transport" since 2/7.

Big picture... with all this uncertainty I worry what it means for the upcoming CS (SOP Aug '25) and the M2x next year. They may not be offered in the US market, not to mention the G87 in general. If a company cannot absorb the import costs and be profitable and if passing it on to consumers doesn't make economic sense either, then the only option is to remove it from that market altogether. The time and $$$ it would take to move production to the US is too long and ROI is cost prohibitive for models with EOP not that far off.

EU tariffs are scheduled to be implemented next month. Without any trade agreements this will continue to escalate into tit for tat trade wars. Rock, meet hard place.
