February will be close to 7 months since allocation, and I have no faith this is the last delay. I really dont know what to do anymore; i wanted this build for so long but i feel strung along at this point.
I see you're not far from me in the Austin area. Did you order through a local dealership?

Also, does anyone know if other options outside of carbon package are causing the major delays like this?

The carbon package has been the primary cause of the delays I've seen posted about here over the past 6+ months or so. A few port installed options appear to cause some delays, but those seem to be pretty buyer specific. Hope that helps!

Thanks! Yeah, I think I saw that the carbon fiber steering wheel was giving someone else problems with delays, but you're right: mostly I'm seeing the carbon package is the biggest one.

Nice. When I went there, the CA was telling me I would be 16th in line for an M2. That was about a month ago. YIKES! So I had to put in my order elsewhere.

Yeah that sounds about right, i got myself on the waitlist they had for the m2 back in Jan/Feb of 2023. Ended up with an allocation and putting down the deposit at the end of July.

Got you!

I wish I had been thinking about my options back then. Buying a car, and even considering the G87 wasn't really on my radar until much more recently, and of course, I'm behind everyone else who had already come to the same conclusion much earlier than I did!

Pulled you in too, huh? The good news for you is everything seems to be moving a bit quicker these days than even a few months ago. As for me, I thought I was going to keep my 135i for quite a while longer, and having already owned it 10 years, I didn't consider looking at new cars either. Then the G87 came along, I started reading and watching reviews in April of this year, went to test drive and put my name on the list right then.

Sold the 135i yesterday, and what a fun car that was. Now I'm F5ing the status on my M2 a few more times a day lol. Speaking of, does anyone have a rough idea of the average amount of time it takes to move on from RFT?

I'm definitely stalking the status on the website as well! LOL

I think I saw two different threads that are tracking build times/dates based on build week that has some good info. That would be the best bet for current information.

I also saw Greg from the pacific northwest had built a thread with a spreadsheet with all of that information for people who had ordered a while back. I think he is on the tail end of that information though, so not sure if that would be as helpful to us currently, since as you mentioned, timelines have changed since even a little while back.

Yeah i was suprised to find myself as 25 on the dealership’s m2 waitlist. As i called them up as soon as the car was officially released to switch me over from the m3 waitlist.
Guessing they had that waitlist even before it was officially out.

Yeah, I think that's true. I think my CA had mentioned something about the list before it was out a while back, but I wasn't really paying too much attention to that tidbit of info, since at the time, I wasn't really "in the market".

So there's the waitlist and what they tell you, and then there is what actually happens in reality. I was not on the waiting list at the dealer that I got my allocation from. When I checked in with them in early November they said there was about a year wait. After that feedback I decided to stick with my other dealer where I was #7 on the list with an ETA of 6 to 10 months before getting a car. Then 3 weeks later my CA texted saying a spot opened up and it was mine if I wanted it despite not even being on their list. I think there is some wild wild west action happening when someone backs out of their spot. I think CA's check their rolodex and try to find the first person that will say yes so they can sell a car and pump up their numbers. What about the next people on the list waiting? What about the people that have deposits in expecting to get the call instead of me? Lesson learned from me is just be really really persistent so that the CA thinks of you first when a spot opens up.

I think you're right. When someone backs out or something, I think the CA's start calling everyone to see who bites first.

I would think it just goes to the next person, but I've actually seen this sort of thing happen with my nearest dealer as well.

It might be a little of both, and probably depends on the dealer. I checked back with my CA around each month to see where i landed on the list, and i seemed to be consistently moving up on the list until it was finally my turn.

I sometimes did get calls about cars in that someone backed out about, and i believe those dont follow the list, just whoever seems to bite first.

I also wouldn’t underestimate the amount of people dropping from the list due to these delays and finding something else. At the time my CA said people were dropping out due to recession fears too.

That actually makes a lot of sense too. We bought my wife's car on a deposit over the winter of 2019/2020. During our wait, COVID happened, which made us move up pretty quickly up the list. We were originally thinking we may have our car by the end of the year, but ended up getting called in May saying our car would be ready soon.

Probably a magnified version of the current/recent recession fears.

Does anyone know if the frozen colorways have been delayed? I see they still pop up on the website from time to time...

Maybe you will switch over soon. BMW genius and the Marine Traffic app says that the vessel left port on 12/24 but it just switched this AM on the BMW tracker
