For some reason, OCD psycho dog curled up against my chest in the middle of last night as I slept. After experiencing an hour of the 15 pound kibble-powered space heater, I finally understand the concept of a three dog night.....

Had to look it up... "Some say it originated in the Australian Outback. Others point to Alaska or Siberia as the source. No matter where it came from, the expression “three-dog-night” means a night so bitterly cold you'd need three dogs in bed with you to keep you warm." |

This is our Luna, second Tortie we had in the family. She's gone back to the universe several years ago, but still remembered fondly. Torties are something special for sure.

Looking for advice. Single dude renting, trying to get a companion. How many of you leave your dogs alone at home when you work a 9-5. How has that worked for you? Thinking about a dog or a cat, or maybe both. Thanks.

Cats are fine with this, especially if you pick up a bonded pair to keep each other company. I'd suggest adopting adult cats from a rescue organization that can give you a little background so you know they'll be OK alone etc, and if it isnt working out you can return them or try another. If you are new to it you may want to find the local rescue org and try fostering at first, for a low-comittment way to see if it is for you. I have much less experience with dogs, but I'd think this much time alonw (and w/o bathroom breaks) would not be good for them, even if it is doable. |
